  • history of the word mission

mission(n.) 1590s, “a sending abroad” (as an agent)

General sense of “that for which one is sent or commissioned” is from 1670s; meaning “that for which a person or thing is destined” (as in man on a mission, one’s mission in life) is by 1805.

Meaning “dispatch of an aircraft on a military operation” (by 1929, American English)

was extended to spacecraft flights (1962), hence, mission control “team on the ground responsible for directing a spacecraft and its crew” (1964).

  • So I bought an Apple TV box like 6 months ago. The reason was that I was tired of the advertisements on the Android TV devices, and with every update they get slower and slower (except for the advertisements loading). I don’t have time to modify these devices above baseline stock. I have battled all kinds of “bugs” in the apps that I use regularly because of the differences between the development and capabilities on the two platforms. I still use my Apple TV even though the bugs persist, but if they add a goddamn advertisement to the iOS I will drop this motherfucker in the fires of Mount Doom without a second thought and go back to android and just use an alternative launcher.

  • That option was never off the table. It would make it easier for those of us who prefer justice over murder to block the community of those who want society to devolve into chaos and anarchy. Those who call for violence and some half assed revolution. I don’t need you here.

I’m tired of hearing people espouse their basest thoughts only to come up with murder is justified. It took you two seconds to come up with that? What happens next? When the tribe has devolved to a point where even they could be the target who will be there to say maybe we went too far. Well the line was passed miles ago and you didn’t even realize you crossed it.

All this has taught me is that we have a severe morality and ethics problem. It probably happened about a generation ago. I wonder what stopped being instilled or taught (or who did the teaching) to cause this devolution. That’s what I’m worried about right now.

Someone has to work. Someone has to produce. If you don’t want to work and yet reap the rewards off of the backs of others that have have wrought, then you’re no better than a leech. A parasite. A drag on society.

Substack is, just as a reminder, a political project made by extremists with a goal of normalizing a radical, hateful agenda by co-opting well-intentioned creators’ work in service of cross-promoting attacks on the vulnerable.

Yeah. That’s not the truth of the matter. That’s someone disagreeing with some content they publish and deciding to cancel them. Medium does the same shit. You pay them. Write whatever drivel you want. They host and publish it. People chose to pay for the writers content. They’re making money. You get a platform. Substack is a business. Businesses exist to profit. There are plenty of credible writers on Substack, but someone read something distasteful on the fringe, and got a hate boner and decided to label them “extremeists”. Same shit we see every day. The solution is don’t pay for the articles you don’t like. If someone is espousing the shit the article claims then don’t pay money to the authors. If I had control to silence you or this articles author would that make this a fair and just society? No, it would be extreme.

  • Did you bother to contact their customer support asking if they plan to add this feature?

In my biased opinion, I would imagine Gmail would want to use you and your emails for every ounce of data they can squeeze out of it. However proton is a paid service who doesn’t sell your data, with much less Human Resources than google, therefore less language support. They add things as fast as they can get around to them. If you inquire they might be more apt to add the support if they have someone on staff that can do it.

Just being born in some geographical location doesn’t make you a decendant of their people. You are a decendant of where your ancestors are from. If your family doesn’t celebrate their heritage then pick the one that best describes where they come from. Maybe sit down and ask your parents or grand parents some questions about your ancestry so you can come to an identity based on facts.
