That’s something that isn’t even guaranteed by law in Germany. But it’s part of the contract very often (with restrictions like the company can make you take your vacation days and such). So yes, check first before you start „saving“.

As a young adult, last year in school and first year out I kind of had this. There was a bar in our town where we went to, not every day but very often. It was a great time!
NochMehrG@feddit.orgto Fuck Cars@lemmy.ml•Lifetime Cost Of Small Car $689,000; Society Subsidizes This Ownership With $275,000English13·11 days agoI found it hard to find where the cost comes from in this article. I found this other article (in German) that gives more detail.
They identified 23 factors, among them
- buying the car
- maintenance
- gas
- insurance
- public infrastructure
- pollution
- acceleration of climate change
- noise pollution
- drivers license
- public space
- impediments for non motorists
Good to know, that I should be rich, since I don’t own a car. 👍
NochMehrG@feddit.orgto General Discussion@lemmy.world•Losing weight is that easy?English44·16 days agoWell yes, it is that „easy“ for someone who is mostly healthy. At the same time, what has been easy for you can be very hard for other people. Changing habits is hard for most people in itself and if you add in (mental) health issues, medication, hardships in life etc. it can get a lot harder. Having said that, I‘m happy for you that you are on a good track while still being kind to yourself!
True! I had a herding dog (if that’s the correct term) once and she would always be very nervous if the herd (my family) was getting too far away from each other and start to nip at our ankles to get us closer to each other again. Great dog!
NochMehrG@feddit.orgto cats@lemmy.world•Should I adopt one of these as a friend for my 2 year old cat?English10·23 days agoOn the one hand: Two cats are better than one! 😻 On the other hand: Every time I did that in the past, the cats hated each other. I still had two cat friends instead of one. But that’s just my experience, I know of a lot of cases, where this worked out fine. Just make sure to check with your landlord first and that you are able to deal with the possible cat drama.

„Cowelation does not imply cowsation.“ Was right there! Still great! 🤣
NochMehrG@feddit.orgto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How long do I need to exercise for before I start seeing a difference?English2·2 months agoJust adding to „It will take a while“. It would be faster if you‘d been fit before because the body remembers. But you should feel strength improvements and you should feel better quite soon. And clothes might be less tight. But visible results take longer. And after a while you’ll hit a tableau and you’ll have to power through that without giving up. It will be best if you don’t focus on looks too much but rather on feeling good and fit. Kudos for starting this path!
NochMehrG@feddit.orgto Ukraine@sopuli.xyz•Future Ukrainian drivers of German Boxer RCT30 APCs are undergoing training in Germany.English12·3 months agoYes, that’s just the driving school version. The trainer sits in the „house“ on top. The driver is behind the small opening a bit further to the front.
NochMehrG@feddit.orgto Science Fiction@lemmy.world•What SF books did you enjoy the most in 2024?English9·7 months agoI immediately remember these and have enjoyed them very much:
- The Monk and Robot series by Becky Chambers
- Murderbot Diaries by Martha Wells
My contract explicitly states that they don’t expire. So I never had to check the law and just assumed it’s the other way round. 🙂
