  • The progressive flank in this country could have anything it wants, but what it needs most today is a plan. Too many of us have fallen victim to the rapturous thinking that one day something will snap, be the straw that broke the camel’s back be the point of no return for the depravity of the right, and revolution will come to even the deepest red rural corners of this land made for you and me.

It’s the same as the western misconception of Karma. Karma isn’t “what goes around comes around” it’s a caution that behaving selfishly destroys the world around you and causes others to do the same in ways that will ultimately negatively impact you too. Karma isn’t the assurance that one day they’ll get theirs, it’s the fact that justice will not come unless you break the cycle and project justice into your world.

We need organization, actual, coordinated accountable, organization. We need national cooperation, and we need effort down to the individual.

Most importantly, we need our own manifesto. The Republicans have Project 2025, they have a plan, this plan can be put to action at any time provided they get the white house, they have something they get to take to the public and sell as what they plan to do.

We need A Project for All. A coalescence of every idea we single issue over, and quite a few that we haven’t even thought of yet as a political community into a coordinated policy package that we can sell as what exactly we plan to do.

We need to give a solid plan of what Joe Detroit can expect of the transition period from the current medical system to M4A. We need to be able to tell Margaret from Georgia exactly how she benefits from cracking the supreme court into a sortitionate office that randomly selects its jurors from the pool of all federal judges, and we gotta let Pennsylvania hear how they stand to gain from a world where lawyer and legal fees are not passed to the litigants and instead covered by the state.

  • Nah just get the work certed, it’d be available for anyone, it just needs to pass the “No AI was used at all” test, and that can be done by giving creative software tools the ability to sign files whenever AI or screen shotting tools get used in their making

I think the approach of providing software tools the ability to grant the cert if no AI tools are used will be the way to really spread the practice, can even work with them to create a cert mode that just doesn’t even present those tools to the user in the first place.

The next step would be getting publishing sites to use the cert or signature as a check that either blocks the upload or more leniently get a visual marker that indicates it was not made with generator tools.

Plus checking for the cert also eliminates the crisis of teachers having to outsmart GPT to avoid their students cheating on takehome essays.

  • I think that’s what people really ought to fear about our future. Once there are enough of us, once we’ve spread out widely enough, horrors and disgusts the likes of which we speak of in hushed tones praying we never find ourselves even adjacent to them will be cut loose into the universe.

Until we develop means of consistent and viable FTL travel and communication, we’re going to all live with knowing that any heinous act we can possibly imagine is not only playing out somewhere, but the victims of it were probably bred for the purpose of making the show as enjoyable as possible for whatever freaks arrange for it.

Even when we regain the proper footing of being able to enforce basic rules of prevention of the worst things we can imagine, the sickos will always be finding another remote world, another star at the fringes where justice can’t reach reliably yet.

We will live in a universe of untold prosperity, and yet also one of an eternal game of whackamole against the worst kinds of us that could ever exist, and some that can’t yet but will come into existence with what we learn going forward.

Even colonizing the solar system, we will regularly see headlines that force us to ask if we are doing enough to protect others, if everyone can live like kings while some are made to be the victims of Caligula, or of Pol Pot, or of Jim Jones, or of any of the other depraved madmen of history who made those underfoot their playthings for the worst impulses that not even the call of the void dares give an ear to.

  • Speaking is not the only means of communication, and I’d be surprised to find out that Biden doesn’t rely on email and memo communication behind closed doors to make his job easier.

Thinking about it more I’d have probably still have been surprised at most points in his career. Not slipping back into stutter is something that requires a lot more focus than a politician really gets to commit to it at all times. Could be that Joe became mr. compromise because helping people get along lowers the amount of times he has to leave a conversation to reset his voice and get his focus back.

Having recently been committed to bedrest I know what it’s like to get creative with your personal work environment in order to compensate for what you’re not able to do right now.

It’s embarrassing even when everyone around you is as supportive and non judgemental as they can be, for a president, I could see the history books recording this as an echo of Roosevelt’s efforts to hide just how far his polio had actually progressed from the press. Even if not for ableist questioning of his legitimacy and ability to do the job, there’s still the personal embarrassment of having everyone know your chronic medical struggles and even picturing what your worst days must be like.

At this point what I think is happening is Joe has one of those old age bugs except this one specifically makes the brain to mouth communication issues that come with a stutter a lot worse.

Because communication seems to always be this guy’s biggest stumbling block, if this were just a report card comparison there wouldn’t be a race, he’s obviously still a competent guy as old as he is, the problem is that something’s going on that makes it way harder for him to adequately communicate that whenever he needs to.

That’s really the only way I can self reason why he then proceeded to be completely fine in the much lower pressure environment of his after debate rally.

Edit: report card not credit card, although personally I’m willing to bet that Joe’s credit score is way better than Donny’s too

  • My take is that the afterlife comes in three phases, yes phases because as much as it gives the fundies a hard-on there’s literally nothing humanly possible to do that could justify a permanent state of the worst torment imagineable.

Phase 1, atonement, you do the hard work for the souls you’ve harmed in your life to forgive you and release the chains that bind your soul.

Phase 2, forgiveness, you do the harder work of forgiving what wrongs have been done to you. Those chains hold you to your material existence, and you have to let go of them to be ready to move on.

Phase 3, reunion, the veil behind which no eyes may see. All you’ll know is that by now anyone you haven’t met yet from your life has done the soul rending work you have and walked beyond it. They’re on the other side, and they’re waiting for you to join them, what that’ll look like, probably some 4-D amalgamation of every heaven or paradise or state of eternal bliss ever foretold by human words, and yet also none of those things, because not only do we not understand it, doing the hard work of being forgiven and doing all the forgiving is what it takes for you to be ready to understand it. I think it is what specifically god spoke of when they said they are both and yet neither of human binaries, and incomprehensible in their true essence to the human mind.
