7·22 hours agoYeah it won’t go away but my job will mostly go back to normal. Right now they force us to use AI for everything even the stuff it sucks at. Even if I can do a better job manually they force me to use it. It’s insane.
I want to use it to help me with the stuff I suck at and let me do the stuff I am good at. I can’t wait for that to start. That’s how I have used it in my personal life and it’s been actually helpful. Not life changing though just helpful

2·2 days agoIt’s not my taste. I am a software engineer and have to build these things. there are features you just can’t do with out JavaScript. Features that are expected from modern apps.
If you need a basic form you don’t need JavaScript but if you want to change anything on the page after it’s already loaded you do. That’s a huge limitation for any kind of app.

62·2 days agoIt’s not because of the scrapers though. It’s probably because JavaScript is needed to make the page interactive in most cases. Almost everything is a single page web app now you can’t do that without JavaScript.
People could make old style sites where there is a full page reload every time you click a link but they aren’t as nice.
Guess I’ll just perish then.
Looks way more fun lol
It’s just a branch who cares? Mangle that fucker lol
That’s a business plan I can get behind

News@lemmy.world•California reports one of largest drops in homelessness in past year, Hud reports
1·5 days agoThat’s a crazy thing that I can’t believe actually happens.
In college I worked in a gas station. We would always have the cops in our station right in the middle of town. The owner gave them discounts on coffee so they would come.
We also had a bunch of homeless people in our city and they would come in a lot too.
One time we had an issue and called the cops and one told me they would pickup these people every few weeks and put them on a bus going a few towns away. He said they will send them back in a few months.

Political Memes@lemmy.world•"Socialism will make life hard!" (Proceeds to show a picture of reality)
8·6 days agoIt’s like that all around people mostly agree on things or at least want to work together. The problem is our “Leaders” don’t want any part of that.
I went to an ice cream place the other night and got a milkshake and it came with a paper straw. Instantly ruined the experience. People are out of their fucking minds with these paper straws.
But what does being faster really get you? Who are you racing against?
Also it’s not actually faster. It writes the code faster but all of the other processes still take the same time. Writing code is only a small part of a software engineers job. If the code gets done faster they still need to document it, get it approved, add alerting, test it and fix any bugs. Those parts still take the same amount of time so you are only really going marginally faster at best assuming the code has no issue that need to be fixed.
Also since the code part is done so fast those other tasks start to pile up and become a bottle neck.
They are selling this like it’s a full fledged engineer for $200 a month but that’s not what it is at all.
