  • Thanks for your good reply.

Yes, I checked of course what is what, though the goal was to have linux to try out in parallel as I have to have my current setup running too. I don’t want to brick my PC for a day or more because I fully removed my windows which I still need for many things until I understand and have tried linux well enough to actually have had the time to learn it well enough to even use it for everyday needs.

So having windows in parallel was not optional but a prerequisite and if that doesn’t work it means transition of windows users to Linux has a major step blocking it.

I will not fully dedicate myself to a pc that can only run something I don’t have experience using EXACTLY because I know how long it took me to learn Windows in detail back in the days.

  • Of course, and you should ideally accept that usecase as a primary if you actually want people to migrate from windows to linux.

People will not transition cold into a system that has so little convenience and handholding compared to what they are used to. They also won’t likely have two PCs to use one for what they know while the other for the new.

I mean this thread so far shows me again why mass adoption of linux is still so far. Those who understand it in most cases do not understand the side where people come from. Especially normal windows and apple users who are very used to their easy to setup everythings.

You also are too deep in to see how what is obvious to you is in fact not at all obvious. For many things of this nature

  • This is incorrect.

Give AI a few more years and ots a great teacher for adults.

Baker and lawyer? Easy. As soon as AI get capable robot bodies they can do “homemade food” with robotic efficiency. And knowing legal texts and such stuff? They are machines. Indexing, cross referenceing, contextually identifying and comparing large data will be super easy to them once they get more memory and no l9nger hallucinate information.

    AI is in its infancy.

People who say AI won’t get as good or better than us humans at basically anything will be in for a hard awakening in about 10 years.

The humans are basically comparing their industry best against an AI baby learning to walk when looking at potential of growth.
