Programmer Humor@lemmy.ml•Claude-powered AI coding agent deletes entire company database in 9 seconds — backups zapped, after Cursor tool powered by Anthropic's Claude goes rogue
2·3 days agoIt definitely rivals a post on /r/sysadmin over on Reddit late last year.
A guy was asking how to get back into their AD after a ‘colleague’ had moved users from 3 child domains in the forest to the main one then deleted the 3 domains but had chatgpt give them the commands which had subsequently locked everyone out of the entire domain!
People replied with suggestions but the first sentence everyone said was “Go and update your CV”!
Quite frankly the guy in this article should consider starting a business with whatever hobby he developed during the pandemic because IT is obviously not for him!

There was pure idiocy built into every layer of that company’s infrastructure with no safeguards or peer review and they let an idiot run it unchecked!

4·8 days agoThere’s got to be a certain degree of the defence department ordering a certain number then a lower number being delivered and ‘oh dear, we don’t know what happened to the others and the costs have risen so maybe the military should have an audit to find the missing money?..’

35·9 days agoThis is what controlled opposition does.
They (Carlson, Owens, Jones, et al), will all distance themselves from trump because they know he hasn’t got long left so will play the “We got it wrong. This one’s on us but stick with us” because they were grooming the maga crowd for his replacement and prepping the “blame it all on the last guy” routine.

1·16 days agoI’m not sure how it’s working but if it was saving to your phone then uploading instantly to FB, it would be caining TF out of the users data allowance!
Just did a little digging and it does but you can use them without a data connection so you could avoid uploading any footage to them

4·16 days agoThere’s a couple of people on SM I follow who use them.
There’s a street photographer called Bleg who always explains to people that he is using them to record the interaction.
Another is a guy that feeds several cat colonies on his mail route (first class whiskers) so he can use both hands to stroke and feed the cats.
Another is a guy called AsamaPOV that visits small family run restaurants in Japan and like the first guy, always explains and asks permission.
They’re examples of nice people but the scope for abuse is so wide

11·23 days agoThere’s a guy on tiktok called Huskistaken (yes, i know) that demonstrates repeatedly just how useless chatgpt is.
The first video of his I saw was him playing a clip of altman stating that it doesn’t have a timer and chat gpt countering that it does.
He then gets it to start a timer to time his long it takes him to run a mile and almost instantly tells it to stop. It tells him it was +7 minutes!

There is the angle that this is accelerationist behaviour by Western capitalists to collapse certain systems so they can snatch up assets up at pennies on the dollar from bankrupting farms & businesses.
Never attribute to stupidity what can easily be explained by disaster capitalism
