I’m not surprised at all, income data is really useful when doing targeted advertising. This kind of sale should be illegal of course, because our tax data should be sensitive in the same legal or medical data is, but I don’t think Meta’s going to see any consequences for this.
It’s because they claim that they don’t actually do any deliveries, they just maintain the tech platform that connects independent contractors to delivery jobs. They do this for legal reasons, because if you think about it all jobs technically just connect people to tasks that they complete.

Fully agreed. While it is morally positive to avoid especially unethical companies, ultimately it’s not possible in all cases. As long as you try to be moral in your day to day actions and you on some level push for things to be better, you’re not morally culpable for the failings of the current system.
Oh, I’m fully aware. That’s honestly the kicker, they could host those apps on the web and have me be able to access everything through my browser, but no, instead I have to install their stupid apps just so they can harvest my data.
Yeah, it sucks because you can do really cool stuff with web apps these days but no, instead I need 140 native apps for basically every mobile service because their mobile websites are abhorrently designed and basically only exist to point you towards the app.

All of the apps have you enter your credentials into their page because Lemmy doesn’t support OAuth2. I don’t think it’s fair to criticize Voyager for a problem that is currently inherent to all Lemmy apps.
You’re correct, but by maintaining distinct passwords with a password manager you make sure only the one account is compromised. 2FA also helps, you may have the username and password, but the 2FA code that you were given needs to be used immediately or else it will expire, and an expired 2FA code won’t allow you to successfully breach the account you’re trying to break into to.
That’s fair, but sometimes a malicious actor will attempt to covertly contribute code that introduces a security vulnerability.
