Yeah I guess ban and boycott mean different things to me, but you’re right. Functionally this is a boycott and I support boycotting this movie. Fair point.

Mein Kampf actually isn’t banned in the US or most of the world. It’s banned in Germany for obvious reasons.
Lol fascism got into power because there is a revolutionary mood in the air and the capitalists have spent a century banning the idea of socialism at every turn. I feel very confident that socialism would have become popular if there wasn’t an active effort to stymie it’s adoption by the masses.
So yes the marketplace of ideas is rigged.
Banning books, like banning movies, is a great way to admit publicly that your position is so weak you can’t tolerate any dissent. Let the power of your ideals stand on their own.
Edit: ok I’m going to leave this up here because I’m a masochist, but ok I get it. I’m with you guys. Boycott Gal Godot. Ban is functionally a boycott. In the US, this movie would never get banned, but I would 100% boycott it. I didn’t fully think this through and I agree with most of you guys.
While I have no interest in this movie and I think Gal Godot sucks, banning movies is akin to banning books.
I find that hard to believe. Universal healthcare is the most popular policy proposal in the US for the voters. 60+% of Americans support it.
Also, there has been numerous studies done in the last 15 years that show that voting doesn’t get popular policies passed. If the rich want something, it is more likely to get passed whereas if the average voters want something, it is unlikely to get passed.
Lol humanity existed before oligarchs and kings.
Obamacare, the multiple times in 2016, 2020, and 2024 when they were deciding on a platform and universal healthcare never made the cut. They’ve had plenty of opportunities to push it and they never do.
Yeah that’s the biggest problem is I can’t guarantee the revolution would be leftist or that the emerging system would be better than our current system. We need to build a leadership system now.
No war but the class war. Everyone you disagree with is an ally in waiting except billionaires.
Tbh I think the Republicans get us closer to revolution than the Democrats do. I think the only way out is to break the system.
The Dems are centrists. They always have been.
Sounds like you don’t know what a Dem is
Americans need to stop saying the Democrats want universal healthcare. They don’t and they’ve made that clear numerous times.
But every single mainstream Democrat is just as fascist outside of the US as the Republicans. They proved that when they didn’t do anything about a genocide. They are also increasingly fascistic in the US as they demonstrated by being better at deportations than the Republicans. (Also, regularly breaking with Democrat voters to side with MAGA in Congress/Senate).
The Democrats are the same team as the Republicans, they just use different language.
You’re welcome in my blunt rotation bro
The worst part of the deportations is losing Latinas.
Edit: ok I accept your down votes with dignity. I suppose this isn’t a joke worthy topic.
So we can’t call people “Jim” “Liz” “Bob” “Sam” anymore?
After watching Bernie have a Palestine flag removed at one of his rallies, I’m less interested in being herded back to one of the controlled opposition parties.
