I would recommend exporting your settings just in case. I was using an instance that kind of vanished for a week and then returned, but with my user account completely gone 😱

In a way yes, because this post is in a community running on a Lemmy instance. But at the same time: The user was did not use Lemmy to write the Lemmy trashing :)

PieFed has more features and can do everything Lemmy can. There are many things you can do in Reddit but not on Lemmy, but most of those are possible on PieFed.

A user migrating to PieFed is more likely to stay than a user migrating to Lemmy, because they won’t have a feeling that there are familiar features lacking. You don’t have flairs, multireddits (a.k.a. feeds), polls, events, personal notes on users, or notifications on new posts/comments on Lemmy, but on PieFed you do.

PieFed is a different software. Lemmy is written in Rust and has a certain set of features.

PieFed is a newer project, written from scratch in Python, by completely different people. It includes Lemmy’s features and shows the same posts as Lemmy, but has additional features such as polls, events, feeds (which are the same thing as multireddits on Reddit), emoji reactions, flairs, notifications for new comments coming for some specific post or new posts coming in some specific community, messaging with Mastodon users, and some other stuff that fails to come to my mind right now :)

They include components that haven’t been produced since 1990’s. They will have to re-think large parts of the missile if they want to produce more than just a handful of new ones. There aren’t endless amounts of 30-year-old devices laying around to use.

Doesn’t a black hole stretch time in a really weird manner? That would mean that no sensible answer can be given to the question. It could easily be that it takes either one billionth of a second or a trillion years, depending on where you are standing when observing the occurrence.

Then there would probably be NATO as one side, most likely with Australia and Japan on the same team as NATO. And, I’d say, probably all of Southern and Central America.
And the Russia and Iran with China? Pakistan would probably be on their side, so India would seek something else. More likely NATO than USA?

But then again, WWIII would be such a big deal that it feels weird imagining it might end up a three-sided war. The loosest piece on this board is USA… If it allies with one of the sides, will that side be that of NATO or that of the Russia?

Hm. Well, if it allies with China and the Russia, it gets super difficult for NATO to keep shit together. Then again, the Canadian border is not all that far away from DC, and Latvia is not far away from Moscow. We’d probably also have Ukraine on our side, and they can teach a lot about modern warfare!

All in all: If USA manages to ally with someone, that side is likely to win. If it remains alone, it will probably lose. I would say that in a situation where USA doesn’t ally with anyone, NATO would be the side losing the least.

But, in the end nobody wins in a war.

CoMaps updates its maps only when a new program version comes out. And after that you must still manually go and update the map to the current one.

So, to get the most recent map, you must update to the most recent version of CoMaps first.

I believe if you update your CoMaps and then download the newest available version of your area’s map, you’ll see the speed limits you have edited in!

Sundials were absolutely surely invented several times around the world, also in Australia etc. After all, a sundial is nothing but a stick in the ground.

If mechanical clocks were invented before colonizers arrived, then the colonizers’ clocks eventually replaced them. But, I understand they were invited only after all of the southern hemisphere had been colonized by less civilized nations, so they follow the colonizers’ standards everywhere.
