I don’t recall any smoking. Not nearly as crazy violent as 300 (are we fighting, fucking, or both) and not nearly as crazy ex-gf who spent the last few hundred years plotting her revenge as she was in Dark Shadows. I’d put it squarely in an average outing with Eva- capable woman stuck in a period/system that doesn’t actually appreciate her capability even if it can’t deny it, she’s aware she’s smart and attractive and uses that to her advantage as she can, but she’s also more broken inside than she lets on.

This has made me realize it would be hilarious to watch her invert her typical characters and be the small town girl who moved the the big city where she got overworked and broken hearted only to come home for a Hallmark Christmas and find she always had what she needed waiting for her in a flannel clad handyman with a beat-up pick-up truck and slice of pie at the diner. The twist ending is that she’s actually nuts and this was all a ruse to burn her town to the ground.

A two-part French remake of The Three Musketeers that came out a couple of years ago. Never got a wide release in the States but if you’re a fan of the story and period pieces it’s one of the best interpretations IMO.

Don’t forget the propensity for violence before/during/after said sexual misadventures and doing it all while goth coded. She’s made of a career of characters you can “fix” but also want to ruin your life.

Rob Zombie’s Halloween. Instead of grizzled badass he’s the kindly janitor that still gets brutally murdered by Michael. He’s still playing a version of Danny Trejo, the director just reframed how the audience viewed him.

You’d need a good investigation into the nature/nurture situation of adopted children. I grew up in an abusive adopted home and only discovered my biological family in my 30s; they were not abusive to the kids they had later in life. It’s been an interesting journey because I rejected my adoptive parents, their morality, their religion, their politics, and their worldview decades ago, but when I met my biological family it was like walking into the home I’d never known I was missing out on. We have uncanny similarities, senses of humor, social/political views, and atheism. Outwardly, you’d look at me and my family and think “became a product of the environment they were raised in”, except I got there without any of the nurture of their home.

Toppling that one isn’t going to be as rewarding as watching other monuments to dictators get torn down. Instead of the satisfactory “clunk” of a ton of metal we’ll just get the “pfft” of value brand gold spray paint and McDonald’s wrappers turned into paper mache. Probably some pilfered state secrets, nuclear codes, and love letters to Jeff in there as well.

I got “inciting violence” for Shermanposting. I disputed that I wasn’t inciting violence, more like praising the quality and effectiveness of historical work.

Pick your battles, know who you’re up against, respond accordingly. I’ve never been in a “gang” but I have been in a crew that tried to keep our community and our peers safe. Our local ethnocentric gangs are Bosnians and Russians. They kinda do their own thing and mostly run gambling houses and sex trafficking, and while I don’t abide the latter, I also know enough to not push it. South Siders, our local HA sub-chapter, and the various white nationalists are a different story. We’ve fought those fuckers in alleys, kicked ass and had my ass kicked. We ran the Hammerskins out of town and I’ll always be proud of that fight. But, no ego, all these people are dangerous. I’ve had friends die over these battles. One had his head stomped into an unrecognizable goo by some South Siders over a drug deal, another was trafficked by bikers from the time she was 12, and another had a biker dad that used him to move product in his teens and ended up in prison because he was the fall guy. There’s some smart, terrible, morally bankrupt folks out there.
