  • Interesting issue; I use Voyager app, because there I can swipe away posts, and then they are hidden from me. I really miss this bad in Piefed-Web-UI, so I rarely use it.

For me, it is a must-feature that I can follow this kind of inbox-zero-workflow.

Now I know that it is possible in PieFed too, with the described options (see other comments). It seems to me, though, that up-/downvoting only to make the post hidden is not the ideal way (although it works for the individual user). Opening it to hide it is also not perfect; several interactions instead of one (like in Voyager), and maybe I do not want it to disappear after reading. Maybe I also want to vote but still keep it visible. Voyagers approach is best, it seems to me.

It would be great if, in Lemmy and PieFed Web, there was an efficient way to hide - independent of voting or reading. Maybe there is - and I don’t know it?!

(PS. : I just saw that this community here is dedicated to the lemmy.world-instance - not to lemmy-software or even PieFed. I hope it is okay to bring about this topic, here, anyway.)

  • I just searched for your username, supersquirrel , because I missed your posts on Ukraine. Then I realized that your question post, asking why the previous post had been removed, was removed too… Then I found this here.

I hate the intolerance that I have seen before by a moderator on Mastodon, too, against an active poster. I think it is damaging the fediverse and of course productive democratic exchange. But it seems to lie in the nature of the fediverse, as s number of users commented. :(

Anyway, supersquirrel, I really want to get my daily dose of updates from Ukraine. Is there another place where you will post your interesting information? I would be very happy not to have to go back to reddit!

  • My chosen, tender way to motivate non tech people to leave big Tech platforms for the fediverse is to post sth nice (nice pics, family info,…) on Friendica, Pixelfed or Lemmy, and then paste the link on Facebook, so that my Facebook friends see it, like what they see, get curious what’s that strange platform they had never heard of, register.

Problem 1: Sometimes FB shows the linked posts picture, sometimes it doesn’t. Problem 2: Some instances deactivate that content can be shown by external platforms like FB.

So far I did it three times; 1 (my friendica instance) didn’t show the pic though. So far, the success count is still on 0. But I still hope it will work :)
