One of the issues indeed.

Here’s a few more:

• stringent and unnecessary hardware requirements
• changing app defaults is cumbersome
• Home version requires a MS account
• right click menu costs more clicks than in 10

And so on and so forth…

Looks like it would be easy for MS to allow this out of the box.

The taskbar still cannot be pinned to the side? I stay with 10.

Still no properly customisable Start menu? I stay with 10.

Still refusing to let my older devices upgrade for no good reason? I stay with 10.

And a number of further reasons that make me refuse 11.

Or simply install a physical button.

I agree that it’s not great that telemetry is shared, but to say that you buy it “just” to share your data is an exaggeration. I am sure you do useful things with it.

That said, yes, it is bloated and I wish you could really turn off all telemetry. Am totally with you on that.

I’d venture out there and say Vivaldi in functionality and customisation.

Privacy probably not, though Vivaldi does quite well.

I just launch Firefox with this option:

Always launches with the profile selector. Then install a profile switcher extension. Done.

Unfortuntaley 1) it doesn’t really come out of the box and 2) the extension must be installed on every single profile. Not the most obvious or user friendly.

OpenStreetMap is a free, editable map of the world, created and maintained by millions of volunteers. It includes data about roads, buildings, shops, points of interest, and more.

Many of the benefits of Google Maps without all its spying and advertising.

I feel such a sentiment can be misguided, because it can lead someone to be utterly discontent.

Applied properly with perspective, it can lead to discoveries about oneself, of course.

From Andrew Ryan, the founder of Rapture, the underwater utopia gone wrong in BioShock. This is Ryan’s philosophy valuing individual freedom and rationality over collectivism and morality. I can never decide whether I agree with this or not. There’s truth in it, but it can be misguided and extreme as well.

“Improving” is not a word I would use in this case.

Discovery had it’s moments.

From a Star Trek universe perspective it hit way too many lows, though. This is just my opinion, of course. I found it hard to sit through some episodes. The actors are generally great, but there is too much cheap dialogue (listen to some of the Season 2 and 3 “Picard” dialogue in comparison!), underdeveloped characters, statements like the above that were written without even considering how they might age… well, this was discussed ad nauseam in many places, so I’ll stop the rant before it starts.

That alone is worth a lot. Their endeavour for longevity is also great. I hope they get the attention they need.
