But I want my computer for dicking around in the garage, mowing the lawn. and getting a fresh beer. Involuntary dad noises are the prelude for all that. This is the best ad copy for a distro I’ve ever heard. Next you’re gonna tell me it’s predictable and stable and stoically gets things done.
Stains and chemical smells are their own thing, but a 1/4 cup of white vinegar in the pre wash takes care of any biologic smells my clothes get.

71·4 months agoYes. And also Red Hill HI water can send you to the hospital from washing your hands and Jackson MS has been on-and-off boil notice for three years. I’m not talking about turning on the tap and contaminated water coming out. I’m talking about nothing coming out. I’m talking about water providers not being able to fill their tanks and reservoirs. I’m talking about the Ogallala being depleted to the point of not being able to replenish.
I’m not talking about millions of dollars fixing water mains and treatment plants to fix. I’m talking trillions of dollars for pipelines to carry water across state lines to fix.

14·4 months agoAs someone who occasionally works with water rights and ditch shares you are 100% right. I bet within a decade there will be a town or municipality that can’t provide water to it’s citizens/customers.

4·6 months agothat’s an interesting idea. one pixel is hyperbolic, but here is a 5x7 that i bet could be argued.

The two issues are that the article seems to be a leap from the truth as WHARRGARBL pointed out, and that anti-genocide posters are bound by the law but not protected and the fascists are protected by the law but not bound.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•When you find a new podcast that has lots of episodes already recorded, do you start at the beginning, the latest, or what?
3·8 months agoOf course! if you want more recommendations I don’t speak german goes through awful right-wing figures. Weird little guys also goes into neonazis. Cool people who did cool stuff covers people doing good things, but it is rough since it’s never easy and they have a hard time.

3·8 months agoIf you want to try something from them that is slightly less depressing the Eel horse episode has one of my favorite moments. The pure joy of Robert’s reaction to Garrison in that episode gives me the warm fuzzies. Also if you want a sillier version of btb you should try the dollop. They tend to focus on more silly and absurd than awful.
edit: also the christmas episodes of btb are stories of good things happening.

131·8 months agoIsrael has devoted a lot of resources to claiming that any criticism of the state of Israel and its hasbara is anti-semitic. NYC has a famously large and active jewish diaspora. The state claiming to be the voice of all jewish people is also claiming that the man most likely to be mayor of the city with (i think) the largest jewish population in America hates jewish people because he thinks that gunning down refugees in a bread line is bad.
edit:grammar

63·11 months agoI completely get where you are coming from.
The Republicans have been pushing all this shit since before I was born and the Democrat’s answer has been small business loans to compete against the corporate consolidation they take no steps to slow and other neoliberal bullshit. The Democrats complete capitulation to the right wing surge, and complete fumbling of creating economic policies that doesn’t breed disillusioned youth ripe to be picked by fascists, has left a festering wasteland. I don’t think more hurting will somehow make anything better or convince people that the grifters selling them snake oil are wrong. I’m worried that the muscles of empathy and compassion are too weak to pull anything good from the ashes.
I don’t know how to convince more people to care about their neighbors, but I do know that is the only way to make anything worth having. Even if they are an asshole. The system doesn’t need any help destroying itself. Capitalism and fascism are death cults. What we need is more people showing good examples of horizontal mutual aid. Helping someone who needs help can teach a better lesson than hurting them. Even if they are an asshole.

qwertilliopasd@lemmy.worldtoHome Improvement@lemmy.world•How old do you think this dimmer knob is? And how to remove it?
2·11 months agoThe knob should just pull off, but sometimes they require full chooch. If she breaks it, it’s not a big deal. If Habitat Re-Store is a thing near her they usually have a shelf of these knobs for almost nothing. If not the big box stores sell them too, and the lights can be turned on and off without the knob until she can get a replacement.
Back when I worked as a handyman I used the old knobs for many things. Some people get very weird about change. I’d usually ask if they wanted the new one to wedge into their junk drawer, though.
