  • I’m not sure I can give really good advice because I never used that kind of kayak…

    On a sit-on-top kayak, air is trapped in the hull. This means the hull can easily be cut into several pieces without sealing problems. So the modular design likely won’t make the kayak any more fragile, as long as the pieces fit together, but that seems easy.

    The performance would be slightly worse (a little more weight, maybe less sliding) than another sit-on-top, but if you want performance, don’t choose a sit-on-top ;-)

    A good point for modular kayak is that they are easier to transport & store. It will be sure be easier to haul. but you still will have to put it in a car and maybe it easier to have it (in one piece) on the roof than (in two piece) in the trunk.

    A nice thing is also that you can change the configuration between solo and duo setups, but do you need this ?
