  • yeah it was “all the rage” in the early 00’s up to like the early 10’s. Pain in the ass to build, even worse to maintain and update. but EVERYONE wanted a cool interactive flash site. It’s just trends with companies. I remember after flash it was all paralax. everyone wanted paralax. thankfully that was a lot easier to build since it was just HTML5. but yeah web dev trends are annoying because you’re constantly having to learn new stacks that you know will become irrelevant in like 3 years or less once some middle manager discovers something “cool”.

I’m all about using Astro + Tailwind because it reminds me of building Geocities sites and I like that.

  • yeah it was fine to play games on or see neat websites but it was absolute garbage to build and maintain with.

fresh out of college one of my first jobs was a web master for an ad agency whose site was purely built in flash/actionscript. It was the absolute worst to update. I hated it. I was one of those that celebrated flash and actionscripts downfall.

  • well to be blunt you’ve had systems built against you for literal decades to prevent you from doing as much. Healthcare tied to employment, at will employment states, 40+ hour work weeks, the least amount of paid time off or time off in general in the modern free world, and these are just a few examples. You also have law enforcement the nation over that has been “trained” and equipped to act as mini-militaries. And THEN you have several government agencies that have also been trained and equipped as such and that’s even before considering the ACTUAL US Military.

These are just some examples of systems put into place to ensure that you, your average American, stays in line and doesn’t rebel-rouse.

  • as others have stated the US doesn’t have what other countries would consider a national ID. they have a Drivers License and a Passport, that’s it. I think some states might have a regular photo ID but I’m not sure it’s been several years since I lived in the US. and then some people have like a military ID.

The problem is other than the Passport none of those are proof of citizenship. None citizens can get a drivers license, none citizens can serve in the military, none citizens can even get a social security number/card. So the only way to prove citizenship is like Passport or Birth Certificate. Not even sure how US Citizens who became citizens after landing would prove it and with how ICE is that would be an extremely risky thing to present/prove when going to vote.

So then you have the problem that A. Not everyone has/can afford a Passport and B. not everyone has a Birth Certificate or their name has changed on it or their gender has changed, etc.

Thus when you consider all these things you then realize that voting in the US only a fraction of the US population would be 100% eligible. and EVEN then they could deny you for whatever reason they deemed fit. And even just requiring a passport and birth certificate it’s easy to then figure out WHO they’re targeting based on demographics. Low income people aren’t going to have a passport, like it or not a majority of Black Americans aren’t going to have one, Trans people won’t be eligible, Women who married likely won’t be if they took their spouses last name, people who were adopted, all US citizens that became one after immigrating to the US, etc, etc, etc.

  • exactly. Non-citizens can get a SSN. I had one when I lived in the US a couple decades ago and all I had was a green card. It was one of the first things I got. I was surprised when I got it cause it was literally paper. here in Canada when they used to give them out they were on a plastic card, I don’t even think they even give you a card here anymore because it’s more of a liability than anything to just have a plastic card with your social insurance number on it.

I’m honestly surprised no one is talking about this more. It’s not like all these guys just suddenly decided “you know what? we should stop raping children” after Epstein was “caught”. Someone else took over, someone else is running the show now, not like all that child raping and blackmail was going to stop.

  • they don’t need to though they can literally just do it. Now if this happened a few months to a year ago, yes I could see them doing this in order to justify something else but now they don’t care because they’ve seen that the american people will let it happen, they’ve seen that no one is going to enforce any court orders or rulings, they’ve seen democrats are all talk and no action and that’s why they’ve become more bold and lying horribly if at all recently. They now know they can get away with it.

So they don’t need to have anything happen to justify the build up of anything. they an literally just do it and americans will say “thank you daddy.”
