Check out the Twin Peaks series. For me that’s the closest I’ve ever seen on screen

thenose@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What free things online should everyone take advantage of?3·5 days agoSounds pretty much like Searchxng actually sounds a tad bit more sophisticated
thenose@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What free things online should everyone take advantage of?2·5 days agoCheers very much. I was somewhat familiar with the concept (didn’t knew the abbreviation for it tho). But your explanation just made everything slide in their place. Thanks again
thenose@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What free things online should everyone take advantage of?101·5 days agoCan you break these two down for me please?
I host many other things on that hardware. But it’s a small 1 litre pc. Sterling pdf is eating the least from there. I tried but I cant stop listing what i have. It is a 6 core gen 10 i5 w 32 gb RAM. Proxmox as hypervisor running two Debian VMs. I think I run 30+ services on it but again sterlingPDF is least of my concerns there. If you don’t have the hardware I genuinely believe you can run it locally without any issues or you can run it on a potato
Just to add the noise: I use Sterling pdf which i host and dear god it has so many functions that i never knew existed
My exploitation of poor??? Mf I walked all around this town cus I can’t afford public transport. I paid 20 quid a night here cus this is all i can afford. thenose@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•Firefox is dead to me – and I'm not the only one who is fed upEnglish1·12 days agoHard agree on most of these. Try searchxng regards the search bit. It’s a self hostable search proxy. It’ll use everything from bing to duckduck and the topics(eg map search images) are more relevant and specific (at least for me) it looks like the unshitified google era.
And ofc ladybird is far af but i think it’s something that we need right now
thenose@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•Firefox is dead to me – and I'm not the only one who is fed upEnglish81·12 days agoI’m in the same boat using Zen. Eagerly waiting on Ladybird to come out. They are writing it from the ground up not even a package being used according to them. Oh and this isn’t some rando this is a guy who done decades of coding(mostly browser) so my hopes are high as Snoop
thenose@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Is there a song in a foreign language you like the melody to but didnt know the lyrics?3·12 days agoI basically love city pop cus it has great groove, rhythm and usually the few English words in the lyrics reassuring me that it’s usually about love or a metaphor of it.

thenose@lemmy.worldto Selfhosted@lemmy.world•feedback on my next steps for self hostingEnglish4·16 days agoWow i was on a very similar setup last year software stack wise. I have a small pc i5gen 10 (eats way less than one might think due to the laptop hardware) proxmox on it running 2 debian vms one for home assistant the other for anything else pretty much that doesn’t require huge horsepower but through the weeks/months crashes and bugs i decided to move my media server to a separate box with native jellyfin install to make sure i have full advantage of the hardware acceleration. That machine is nixos but that’s a whole other story 😂.
I think constant iteration is the key/fun with self hosting. I can’t tell you a single thing on my not so long but very eventful journey that I regret. Maybe try to find what is actually “mission critical data” that you once setup you say i need this to be online and reliable etc so you can play more freely on a separate system be that a vm or anything. Oh and document everything you do will come handy 10000% i guess that’s the only thing I wish I could done better is finding a tool I like to document with. For me it’s like this: I start documenting then something annoying happens with the note taking app or it’s just bloated and I’ll unintentionally abandon the whole thing.
Anyway that’s me waffling 😂 Have fun and I’m happy to share all the little exp I have just give me a shout ✌🏽
I just use tailscale. I am thinking about external share options but for me and my closests just plain simple tailscale
