New restaurant spree at major Midtown developments continuesJosh GreenMon, 08/17/2026 - 14:14It’s shaping up to be a busy few months for new marquee dining options at some of Midtown’s largest developments of the past decade. Portman revealed last week that Buckhead staple Hal’s “The Steakhouse” is planning to open next spring at its landmark, 24,000-square-foot Patterson House, now part of the Spring Quarter district. This week, the seasoned developer sends news that Sozou—a modern Japanese concept considered Chef Fuyuhiko Ito’s flagship restaurant—has now opened at Spring Quarter.  Sozou is open Tuesday through Saturday (5:30 to 11 p.m.) on the ground floor of Ten Twenty Spring, a Class-A office tower that’s seen recent success with major tenant signings. In addition to a main dining room, expect a robata grill and sushi counter, with “the highest-quality seafood and seasonal ingredients sourced from premier markets around the world,” plus desserts by Executive Pastry Chef Lisa Ito, per Portman reps.The Ten Twenty Spring breezeway today. Courtesy of PortmanCourtesy of PortmanPortman officials also expect Pataaka, a high-end Indian restaurant, to open a 113-seat space later this summer at the base of Spring Quarter’s 30-story Sora apartment tower.Meanwhile, about five blocks north at the three-pronged Midtown Union development, Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse and Wine Bar has been announced as an anchor retail tenant by developers MetLife Investment Management and Granite Properties. Fleming’s plans to start serving lunch and dinner—starting at 11 a.m. daily, with steak options under $35 included—this fall in a sizable, 8,233-square-foot space. Planned bar interior design at Fleming’s Midtown Union location. Urbanize Atlanta/2022Plans call for an 80-patron main dining room, a bar area, a section for live entertainment, a wine cellar, private event spaces, and an outdoor lounge space spanning about 1,600 square feet on Arts Center Way, a pedestrian-friendly zone in the heart of the development. Interiors call for a “new elevated design concept that utilizes modern design elements, earthy tones, and rich textures” for Midtown Union, per project reps. Fleming’s main entrance will be at the high-profile corner of West Peachtree and 17th streets, beneath a tower mural by SCAD alum JoeKingATL. Urbanize Atlanta/2022Fleming’s operates one other metro Atlanta location today, north of Interstate 285 near Perimeter Mall at Perimeter Place Village. It was founded in Newport Beach, Calif. In 1998 and counts roughly 65 locations across the U.S. today. The restaurants will join other recent debuts in Midtown such as “urban Mexican” concept Habaneros at the Portman’s Sora tower.
