While the glasses are definitely a problem, this seems to be more about the general manager just being an utter cunt.

“At this point, my friend’s husband’s getting frustrated, and he’s like, ‘You need to give me my ID back,’” Marilyn said. “The GM threatens to call the cops on my friend’s husband and threatens to ban him.”

“OK, call the cops.” is what they should have said.

which resulted in her considering other gyms entirely.

    Considering!?

If you are ever in a situation that you need the cops; it is almost always in your best interest to be the one who calls. Cops are dumb AF and will blindly believe the reporting party unless things are extremely obvious otherwise.

Yup, the answer is always, “don’t worry, I’ll call them for you.” But only if you absolutely have to call the cops. Otherwise, don’t ever call the cops.

Yeah, the looney manager was clearly bluffing. I reckon withholding your driving licence would justify calling them. That can’t be legal. I’m kind of baffled why they left it with him in the first place.

I don’t think newsbreak expects people to actually move past the headline and read the article because most of it is incoherent bullshit.

Generally recording at gyms is already prohibited, but this was the gym manager using them.

Yeah but soon users will start using them too and when confronted they will say they didn’t know and then owners will have to start putting up signs because there is always some people that just lack the basic amount of common sense that is required to grasp this (on top of those who disobey it with bad faith).

I’m not sure how the glasses provide protection. Seems like corporate must get a constant stream of complaints and accusations about this bozo but recordings of him being such an ass would not really be much of a defense.

Cause the manosphere likes to tell every man that if they haven’t been falsely accused of something, it’s just a matter of time. So if they record everyone constantly, then they can “prove” that it was just a misunderstanding.

Of course, if the accusation is that they’re been a creep and recording people without consent…

I saw an article the other day about women in Spain not sunbathing topless anymore because of all the “nudify” apps and pervert glasses. Are gyms going to be next? And I mean “going to the gym”, not “working out topless”.

I already work out at home, it’s cheaper and there are no creepers.

Only thing I miss is the Sauna.

I have a hard time believing this story. The woman claims she brought her friend in on a guest pass but then when there’s an issue, that friend’s husband appears in the story out of nowhere and happend to be there working out at the exact same time under his own membership? The claimed over-the-top responses by the manager and the fact that she then deleted her post makes this all very fishy.

“He’s like, ‘Hey, you know, what happened with my wife earlier?’ The general manager then responded, saying, ‘Do you wanna get bonk with me?’  Like, do you wanna fight?” she recalls.

Is this what passes for a manager these days?

I feel like stupid is consistent. Someone who is stupid will wear these glasses, and also act like the manager in this story.
