It is nothing short of murder for pay. The media companies are guaranteed to already be selling ad space for it and it will bring in billions. And- we should all know already that the nazi organization known as MAGA have already claimed their share of it.

PLEASE- Do not watch this. Do not let them monetize executions.

This paves the way for judges to issue executions far more frequently and will result in the most colossally vile abuse of our legal system we will ever know.

DO NOT WATCH IT. DO NOT SUPPORT MONETIZING MURDER.

(EDIT: it’s been brought to my attention that people need their hand held so, what I am referring to here is that MAGA is going to use American military and social media to publicly execute someone. Whoever hosted it will absolutely profit from it and there is no way MAGA isn’t also going to take their cut)

What if I told you live streaming the execution wasn’t about the money? The regime will claw money wherever they want.

It’s about power, humiliation, dehumanization, and desensitization.

It’s also a test. Can we get away with publicly executing people? They seem to have done it so far, cops and ICE have done it for a while.

It won’t stop at public execution of death row inmates. The Nazi train is full steam ahead, and there will be a lot more death, a lot more suffering, and a lot of people enjoying every fucking second of it. Why? Because that’s the only thing they enjoy. Its a disease that is only curable one way.

I’ve got a better reason… Watching it will only make you a worse person. And I don’t mean in the sense it’s morally wrong, but that the act of joining in the crowd cheering for suffering and death will inevitably chip away at your empathy

I doubt the primary reason is monetary, this is the kind of wannabe influencer bullshit the MAGA leaders love to put on. It’s performative larper fascism. I’m sure someone will find a way to make a profit, but they’re doing it for the sake of doing it. It just makes their nipples hard

But more importantly, hate is a poison. Exposure makes it just a little bit easier to stomach next time. It’s feeding the wolf in you that lusts for hurting others

Every American needs to watch to drive home the horror about what their country has become. Every one of them should be forced to watch. Because turning away from the spectacle is turning away from the horror. No American should be allowed to bury their fucking head in the sand and pretend like it’s not as bad as it is.

Fuck that. You do not need to watch a live streamed snuff film. Absolutely not

That will not drive any point home that a decent person wants people to understand, have you seen someone die violently before? I have. I reacted by getting children away before trying to help, I had the benefit of acting perfectly according to my morals without thought

The most disturbing part is how life just goes on like nothing happened. The most disturbing part how easily you can witness a death you have no part in and just keep going. Like it never even happened

I see what you’re trying to go for, but this is not the way.

I’m aware of it, mostly because of my doomscrolling of Fediverse but I also saw a Brazilian news outlet (G1 Globo) publishing a news article about it. So I can guarantee you; no, we “the rest of the world” didn’t skip that one.

In fact, personally, I’m far from merely aware of the upcoming USian “Faces of Death 2026 Remake” as a Brazilian; it’s one of the things actively weighing currently in my head in ways that, simultaneously with all the ongoing shitshow I’m watching going on in this demiurgic world and around me, are further desensitizing me regarding my own… fate.

Oh, it goes without saying, no, I’m not going to watch the awful upcoming live assassination.

The 5 seconds you spent making a snide response could have been used to just add an informative link instead. And doing that would have the potential to inform people and bring them to your side. Hundreds of lurkers aren’t going to look up the totally unknown thing you’re upset about, especially when you’re being antagonistic. They’re just going to dismiss you and your message and move on to the next post. But if your goal is to feel superior and dunk on folks who are less informed about US current events than you, then: great job! keep up the good work!

The story that OP, myself and countless other USians are upset about (among so many other daily awful events): # Firing squad execution to be livestreamed, Pentagon says https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cmy0r96xygx6o

I wonder why they decided to do it that way…

Most likely as a publicity stunt to distract the voter base from their many egregious, embarrassing failures. Picking a topic where they look like monsters at least avoids discussion of their weakness and how much of a chump you’d have to be to vote for them to remain in power.

This is a good analogy. I didn’t think about that before. It really is “direct your hate here and not against your oppressors” in public.

The administration is planning on a public execution live-streamed online. The person being executed is a former Army major and psychiatrist who killed 13 people in a mass shooting at Fort Hood Army Base in Texas back in 2009.

The condemned is a monster, but this is a test case for more public executions. They’re bringing back public lynchings.

      To quote myself:

(EDIT: it’s been brought to my attention that people need their hand held so, what I am referring to here is that MAGA is going to use American military and social media to publicly execute someone. Whoever hosted it will absolutely profit from it and there is no way MAGA isn’t also going to take their cut)

So…. Even with an explanation in the post you still don’t understand it?

What part are you having trouble with??

It is not the subject that is rude, it is your way of presenting it. If you talk down to people, who are genuinely confused, you appear as a jerk, and will get a negative response. Maybe they could have looked it up, yes, but people also want to interact with each other on a discussion platform, which is one reason making them rather ask, what is going on. If you do not want to interact with them - just do not. Other people will usually answer the questions.

I talk to people the way they talk to me. Go ahead and check the comments. I have had some very nice interactions with people here. It’s just the ones that come in being asses about it because I didn’t custom tailor the post to suit their needs or make it relevant specifically to them.

Better yet… Go look at the rest of lemmy. Does it all appeal to you? No? Do you complain to the author of every post because of this? Probably not. But if you did, would you expect a kind response? I hope not.

We all have our biases, and it colors what we see. So when you see me being an ass, you’re seeing it from the side of people who think they’re owed an explanation of everything, and if it doesn’t make sense to them- they get to shit on it.

I was very clear in what I said as many people here fully understood it. And many who didn’t asked without showing their ass about it and got an answer. The rest can gtfo. I’m not here to validate others.

Who said I’m angry?? What I see is a bunch of angry kids that read something they don’t understand and attacked me because- apparently the onus is on me to hold their hand through the entire thing.

So I added a description of the point and they still bark at me because their country didn’t get the memo.

Who fucking cares?! lol! Then it’s not for them and they can move on! But no!!! It HAS to be something they can consume!

lol. I think it’s funny. Annoying, but still funny.

The US government wants to live stream killing a person. Live streaming is like when you see something as it happens, like on television, but via computer. I hope that explains it well.

I watched the first season of Slow Horses recently where a group of terrorists kidnap a kid and plan to livestream executing him. I assumed it was something like that. I really don’t see how this post makes it obvious to assume that it’s being done by the U.S. government 🤷

Do you assume everything written needs to make sense to you? I even provided an explanation for the post and this idiot still said they don’t get it.

The younger generations need to step the the fuck up and quit with the entitled bullshit. The word doesn’t own them shit. If you don’t understand something, look it up. Ask your AI, whatever it is- but stop demanding things be custom tailored to your expectations.

I am astounded that especially Americans seem to be the ones who do not know about this. Even the public broadcaster here put it as a headline on both it’s homepage and it’s news segments, right next to the US showing they have no qualms with people who commit atrocities and instead attacking the people who fight against the people who committed these atrocities. Our newspapers (even the crappy free ones) also all reported on this.

It really shows the true mental state of the US - either so overworked that they can’t engage anymore because of a lack of ressources, so overwhelmed by what is happening that they stop engaging with current events, fully committed to this insanity or a small part of the populace that still cares. There doesn’t seem to be much inbetween anymore

It blows my mind how I’m being attacked left and right for even thinking that this might be news elsewhere. How dare me post about things that people just might not have heard about! Didn’t I know that there are other people that exist outside the US and that everything posted should appeal to them??!?

But yeah. Especially here in the states. How could someone NOT have known about this.
