This is when NIN started sucking 😔

To clarify, NIN used to be electronic industrial. Listen to The Downward Spiral and tell me With Teeth isn’t worse.

I don’t think he ever intended to make music of a specific genre. He just does what he wants.

I like The Downward Spiral and With Teeth. I don’t think either suck.

I like NIN in all their incarnations for different reasons. Personally, I feel like he became more creative after With Teeth since he was less self destructive. The only album I can’t really get behind is Hesitation Marks, but I appreciate that he is in a better place mentally, and Hesitation Marks represents that.

Pretty Hate Machine was amazing. Broken was even better.

I did like the song Hurt (although I like Johnny Cash’s cover better) and a few others, but it just wasn’t the same after Broken.

After The Fragile he fell into depression and heavy substance abuse. When he finally cleaned up we got With Teeth. So the main difference is sober Trent vs fucked up Trent. And sadly fucked up musicians make great music. Still glad he’s still around and even tho his music ain’t as great I still enjoy it.

Dude, he was depressed and an addict until Year Zero. This is when he started getting clean. Pretty much after he became friends with Bowie. Separating from Manson also helped.

Yep, they’re basically an entirely different band at this point.

(I know “the band” is technically just Trent, but what the entity Nine Inch Nails was putting out at this point sounded like a completely different entity aside from Trent’s voice)

It’s not just Trent anymore. Atticus Ross has been an official member for a while, since they’ve been doing movie scores, methinks.
