Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) openly admitted that she and her Republican colleagues were āall afraidā of āretaliationā from Donald Trump as she criticized what she called āunlawfulā executive overreach and sweeping federal cuts.
Murkowskiās comments came during a 45-minute session at The Foraker Groupās annual leadership summit and stands as one of the starkest public admissions from a Republican yet of the political pressure facing those in the party who push back against Trump policy or rhetoric.
āWe are all afraid,ā Murkowski told the crowd on Monday.
Pausing, she added: āItās quite a statement. But we are in a time and a place where I certainly have not been here before. And Iāll tell ya, Iām oftentimes very anxious myself about using my voice, because retaliation is real. And thatās not right.ā
I donāt understand that fear. They played an enormous and central role in creating, cultivating, and multiplying that fear, for fucking DECADES. Where the fuck did they think it was gonna lead? Everything being fine and dandy, after getting issued their Atomic American Familyā¢? Black people and klan members holding hands in a circle and singing kumbayah? Jesus fucking fuck. Itās so fucking stupid. Itās so obviously, blatantly fucking stupid. Itās like driving towards a wall at a buck twenty and being surprised by the sudden stop.
Trust me I know and youāre right, however now I rather cut the head off the snake and deal with the rest later. Although, with this snake has more than one head. Weāre just watching history repeat. They live in fear, but that fear will come true if they donāt do anything.
Iām all ears for anything that works at this point, we need results not empowering them with hypocrisy. Hit them where they give a fuck.
