Charges dropped against ex-Atlanta officer in fatal shooting of Jimmy Atchison

A former Atlanta police officer who said he feared for his life when he fatally shot an unarmed Black man more than six years ago had his charges dropped Tuesday afternoon.

Former Atlanta police officer Sung Kim was charged with murder in the 2019 shooting of Jimmy Atchison. A federal judge on Tuesday dismissed all of his charges, ruling the ex-officer acted in self-defense when he fatally shot the unarmed Black man.
