Time to use CBC gem 🔴, NFB and the available provincial broadcaster options instead!

Yeah, for me Netflix has been downgraded to the ‘subscribe for a month or two a year’ tier, like all the other services.

What infuriates me even more is when they keep the cancelled shows in the library with no warning.

So 5 years from now someone goes “oh yeah this looks good” and then loves it and subsequently finds out it was cancelled 4 years ago after wondering why the hell it’s taking so long for seasons 2 to come out.

i think netflix also makes these studio sign some kind of non-compete so they cant go to another stream or network to continue said series.

My rule for a long time has been to not start any Netflix series until after it’s completely done, i feel significantly less disappointed this way.

This is a very reasonable rule, but unfortunately I think it also impacts the metrics they use to make these decisions.

I’ve been following this rule for about a good decade now. It doesn’t apply only to Netflix series.

The are many series to watch; no point in starting to watch one without any guarantee that the series will keep consistent good ratings until the finale.

I’ll never forgive Netflix for canceling Sens8 it was such a novel concept that could have gone on for at least 2 more seasons, yeah the orgies were awkward and I don’t quite remember the point of them but other than that it was a great show

The orgies were awesome, but besides that I agree. I lived for this series.

It was such a cool concept. The ending felt really forced, you could tell they had a bunch more story planned.

It was also cool they always filmed on location, it was nice to watch. Some shows will be set somewhere, but the background is so obviously southern California it just takes you out of the plot. I’m sure it was expensive AF, but it showed in the quality of it.

Why do they exclusively only cancel good shows (Mindhunter, Inside Job, now this) and keep up actual garbage?? I don’t think Netflix has made a wise business decision ever, the only reason they’re successful is because they were the first. They’re lucky Blockbuster didn’t buy them.

Mindhunter wasn’t canceled initially, David Fincher put it on hiatus himself

I personally think they should have given him a blank check to get him back, everyone has a price

I didn’t sound like that was the issue, Fincher didn’t want to work on TV anymore. Also why it appears Mindhunter is returning as films instead of another season.

Tbh they do also cancel low-rated shows too. You just don’t care when they do.

Maybe garbage shows are cheaper to produce, or get better viewers-per-dollar-spent measurements?

I’ve read that they cancel most shows after two seasons because season 3 is usually when the cast renegotiates their salary and they’re too cheap to pay them what their worth.

It seemed like a miniseries to me. Who’s expecting a second season when the mystery in the titular residence is solved at the end of the first?

Yeah that’s what I thought as well. I guess I wouldn’t have minded seeing them do another mystery with one more season, but the concept has potential to get tired pretty quick

Haven’t heard about the show but I honestly can’t stand shows about “The White House” anymore. Just ignoring the current fascist politics is unforgivable, so is showing the previous US regime as “the good old days”, but even any attempt to address it but still make it entertaining is distasteful too. It’s just propaganda one way or another.
