personality is the hard limit, and appearance is the soft limit

if you’re miserable to be around then… i’m not gonna be around you…
if you’re ugly that’s unfortunate for both of us, but mercifully nature has programmed us to care less about that the more we spend time with someone, so if you’re sufficiently pleasant to be around it’ll probably work out anyways.
