Excellent docuseries, really enjoyed it. Did a re-watch recently.

It’s probably on YouTube somewhere but there’s an excellent documentary that uses the footage shot by the Russians at the time of the accident.
Harrowing at times but fascinating. Especially when you discover that the mini series is mostly fact, such as that crazy bit when they get men to work those short shifts on the roof, shoveling radioactive debris into the hole.
Yeah. IDK whether it is what you’re talking about, but I saw a YouTube video somewhere that was comparing the shots from the miniseries to shots from real life, and they were remarkably similar. There’s a ton of authenticity in the show, even in little details.
I read an interview, also, where someone who lived in the USSR at the time said it was very accurate. One of the things he mentioned, not really a show commentary but just something that was in his memory from the time that wasn’t in the show, was that the radio station (there was only one) switched from programming into classical music, which was always a sign that something big had happened and they were trying to figure out what they wanted to say about it before they made any kind of announcement. His friends were speculating that Gorbachev had died. Eventually, it came back on, and they all heard the first public announcement about the disaster.
