As engaged commenters on these pages have pointed out, artwork adorning the latest warehouse conversion along the Atlanta Beltline’s Westside Trail corridor could be the antithesis of stale, corporatized murals.

Time for a closer look.

The West End property in question is 1200 White St., where Lee + White owners Ackerman and Co. and Belgium-based partners Baltisse have started an adaptive-reuse transformation that’s signed two tenants to date.

Ackerman spokesperson Steve Webb said the building’s colorful, Beltline-facing façade is the work of graffiti and street artists who painted during the Atlanta Style Writers Jam 2024. The energetic works stretch across most of the 211,585-square-foot warehouse building.

“This was a way to celebrate the building’s industrial past,” said Webb via email, “while giving it a new identity, reflecting the creativity and energy of the surrounding community.”

In related news, national franchise Sola Salon Studios recently signed a lease for just shy of 8,000 square feet at the 1200 White St. property, targeting an early 2026 opening.

Expect 41 salon suites, each customized for specific health and beauty specialties. Sola Salon counts more than 700 locations nationwide.

Elsewhere in the building, Dill Dinkers opened an 11-court, 35,891-square-foot pickleball facility earlier this year that marked the franchise’s first in the Atlanta market.

A new extension of the Beltline’s Westside Trail is planned beside the building, with a goal of opening in 2027.

According to Ackerman, plans at 1200 White St. call for adding a variety of uses similar to Lee + White, including restaurant, retail, experiential, creative office, and “high value-add industrial” uses.
