Very interesting. My wife and I started season 5 and realized we never watched the last 2 episodes of season 4. So, we’re right there with you on it.
Season 5 is about the same. It’s an easy show to watch, and it’s nice that they’re 30 minutes. They’re all charming. But a lot of the later episodes have been forgettable.
Minor spoilers for Only Murders (not spoiling plot points and not including Season 5)
Season 4 was pretty bad IMO, probably the worst of all. There were far too many characters and that threw the mystery/drama balance out. Based on how Season 5 is setup, I’m hopeful they’ll have seen the reactions online (this was a very common complaint) and have simplified the show again so it has a better chance of recapturing that magic from earlier seasons. I also think part of the problem is that its parody of true crime podcasts has become less funny and relevant as it has continued through the seasons.
I stopped watching Only Murders at the start of season four, I think I got as far as S04E02.
Nothing major made me lose interest, it just sort of waned after binging the first three seasons.
How did you feel about season 4? Are you enjoying season 5?
I couldn’t get it into Wednesday season two when it first released, but I love season one, so I’ll probably get around to it one of these days.
