All in the title. In discussion with a few friends, I mentioned that I was rooting for Liverpool in '05 in the CL final against AC Milan, and people were surprised… it seems this is not as common as I thought.
So, what’s your attidute towards your clubs’ local rivals when they are in continental competitions?
Well I’m not only a Prem fan. I regularly watch Serie A and the Bundesliga too, and watched La Liga before all the scandals in Spanish football in the past several months left too much of a sour taste in my mouth. So I root for Liverpool first and foremost and want them to win, but if they go out I still like Napoli, Monchengladbach (not in Europe, but still), and Atletico Madrid. And other teams to a lesser extent, like Fiorentina and Union Berlin. It’s all a matter of degree. The only other Premier League team I really follow much is Palace and they’re never in Europe so it doesn’t matter there.
But no, I don’t just root for people of any one league, and no I don’t root for rivals.
