Photos: Atlanta’s tallest skyscraper in decades has topped out Josh Green Fri, 11/07/2025 - 12:56
For diehard development dweebs of Atlanta, it’s a bittersweet day: The city’s tallest new building since the early 1990s is officially done climbing. No more incrementally altering the skyline with each passing week.
New York City-based Rockefeller Group and contractors Turner Construction on Friday held a topping-out ceremony for 1072 West Peachtree, a 60-story LEED Silver-certified skyscraper that’s been changing Midtown’s cityscape for the past two and ½ years—and its skyline since early 2025.
Rockefeller officials are now predicting the project will finish in the spring, before Atlanta’s hotly anticipated, monthlong slate of 2026 FIFA World Cup matches. (The army of construction workers onsite today indicates they’re serious about meeting that goal.)

“Topping out 1072 West Peachtree marks a defining moment for both Rockefeller Group and Midtown Atlanta,” said John Petricola, the company’s senior managing director of the Southeast Region, in a statement. (Expect a full interview with Petricola and coverage from other, higher angles next week.)
“This development represents the next chapter of mixed-use design in the city,” Petricola continued, “where world-class architecture, and thoughtfully programmed amenities come together to create a one-of-a-kind vertically integrated community.”
The tower—as designed by Atlanta-based architecture firm TVS, in collaboration with Brock Hudgins Architects—will include 357 apartments, or “premier residences,” Rockefeller reps confirmed today. Elsewhere will be eight floors (224,000 square feet) of office space, a full acre of indoor and outdoor “Sky Garden” amenities, and 6,300 square feet of retail at street level.
Other aspects will see a Pickleball court overlooking Midtown, an indoor Pilates studio, and a private training room. The amenities deck, per Rockefeller heads, will be Midtown’s largest.

At 749 feet, 1072 West Peachtree is Atlanta’s fifth tallest high-rise, supplanting Westin Peachtree Plaza Hotel for the No. 5 spot.
Swing up to the gallery for glimpses around the property (and from afar) as the tower reached its max height today, apart from some decorative flourishes at the top.
