I was sent a video from one of my mates that consisted of Portsmouth’s best Premier League goals. A player that popped up a few times in the video was Sulley Muntari, during that brilliant 07/08 season for Portsmouth, scoring banger after banger. He then left for Inter Milan the following season. I thought to myself he’s got to be up there for one of the best players to have only played one season in the Premier League…
…until I remembered he had a short loan spell at Sunderland in 2011.
So I’ve been wracking my brain thinking of who are the best players to have only played one season in the premier league? As in literally only played one season in the Premier League, no moving to another premier league team later on in their career (e.g Ravanelli) and no one season wonders who played slightly longer than one season (e.g Michu) and so far I just have…
- Tiago (Chelsea 04/05)
- Esteban Cambiasso (Leicester 14/15)
So if anybody has any other suggestions for the best one season only premier league player, I’d love to hear them!
Julio Baptista is one.

Jurgen Klinsman was PFA TOTY and Balon D’Or runner up in his only season at Spurs
Only 1 season and has arguably the most iconic celebration in premier league history.
Every kid growing up shouted “Klinsmannn” and did the dive.

Asamoah Gyan had such an incredible World Cup in 2010 and then joined Sunderland. Dude could’ve torn it up in the premiership and most certainly been picked up by a big six club, but he ended up leaving.

Every Chelsea signing last season that departed this season
Got to be James Rodriguez… Still feels like a dream.
Fernando Hierro spent the final season of his playing career at Bolton.
