Just finished watching the Brentford VS Arsenal match and one of the big talking points is Ramsdale’s performance.

After a horror few errors in the first half, I thought he played quite well in the second. Whether that be with his feet or hands, he was commanding and looked very composed.

So I hope people don’t jump into blaming his mistakes blindly because let’s also remembers that Raya has been very shaky too - most notably when he gifted Cole Palmer a great chance in the London Derby.

Sure, Raya will walk into the starting line up next game because Arteta clearly prefers him. But Ramsdale’s quality clearly remains and a lack of game time caused some rustiness. As simple as that.

He’s got too much quality to remain on the bench. It’s surprising that his Arsenal career had taken such a turn after last season’s achievements.

The best blocks in this game came from people NOT Ramsdale. His positioning and distribution were suspect as well. Second choice IMO

Raya to Arsenal was a surprise to everyone but I think a number of factors had to fall in place for it to even happen:

    • Raya was who Arteta wanted before we signed Ramsdale, but Brentford got promoted and held onto him.
    • Arsenal’s GK coach Iñaki Caña was Raya’s old GK coach
    • Big clubs who were interested in a keeper this summer (United, Tottenham, Bayern, Real Madrid) were all not keen on Raya for the £40m Brentford were supposedly asking for and all pursued alternatives
    • Matt Turner wanted out and Forest came prepared to pay £10m for him
    • Brentford lowered the fee to £27m and said we can loan him now, buy later to satisfy our FFP needs.

An opportunity came along for Arteta to get the GK he wanted years ago, who the GK coach probably considers a better GK, for £17m net, plus the 1st year is a loan. It was unfortunate for Ramsdale but that’s just how things go in football sometimes. The important thing is he managed to get a move to Arsenal having been relegated with Bournemouth and Sheffield United. He was in the PL team of the year and got to shine on a massive stage, even playing for England. He’s still just 25 and if he can get a move to another big club this will just be a bump in the road.

I think arteta has done ramsdale dirty tbh. I quite like ramsdale, I rate him as a keeper. But I mean, the whole rata situation sucks for him. He hasn’t played a, match in the last few weeks that I can remember do if course he’s gonna be a little rusty and more susceptible to making some silly mistakes. I think he needs to leave arsenal and be a number 1 again. He’s better than being a second choice.

He didn’t look great but clean sheet. 3 points. The drama and ridicule aren’t helping his mentality that’s for sure.

Dude, what even is your account? You created it fresh in Sept. But you post shit nonstop. I thought you were just a news aggregate bot. But now you’re posting just random opinions. So not a bot. But then based on how much you’re on here, this obviously isn’t your first account. Are you just trying to get a bunch of karma to sell the account?

    I’m just curious.

A clean sheet and 3 points! What else is there to say? I’d be concentrating on Allison, cost his team today!

If Rice doesn’t save that first goal then Ramsdale is getting roasted by media and fans alike.

    Very lucky.

If Rice doesn’t run into the box then Ramsdale would have had a passing option, instead Rice just drew the press in closer.

Ramsdale fucked up, but Rice deserves a bit of the blame here too.

This is a terrible take. Ramsdale has three passing options initially (including Rice) but he waits too long and gets closed down.

David Raya is better in every single comparable metric. Don’t know why these Arsenal fans are so loyal to a keeper with limited potential.

Ramsdale only looked so good because Leno was so terrible at playing from the back. Leno is a better GK than Ramsdale. If Martinez was still at Arsenal. He would be 1st choice over him as well.

He really wasn’t any worse or better than Raya, he also has made big blunders with kicking but at least Ramsdale has presence and personality something Raya is lacking.
