Development proposal for West End corner comes into sharper focusJosh GreenMon, 02/23/2026 - 08:06The latest housing proposal for West End near a popular Atlanta Beltline stretch will lean more traditional than previously thought, according to project designers. The proposed townhome site, spanning about half an acre, is the northeast corner of Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard and Atwood Street, roughly a block east of Gordon-White Park and an entrance to the Beltline’s Westside Trail. The long-vacant corner is also roughly three blocks from another Southwest Atlanta landmark, the growing Lee + White mixed-use former warehouse district. The project’s designer and rezoning applicant, Atlanta-based Cove Architecture, has provided revised renderings to Urbanize Atlanta that show a less modern approach for the West End corner than earlier designs, with more brick and hedges and garage entries tucked off the street.

Google MapsSince initial designs, the project has been “reshaped through zoning and massing analysis to maximize site yield,” according to a Cove representative. “We don’t have any other updates to share at the moment.”Plans filed last month with the Atlanta City Council Zoning Committee call for 16 for-sale townhomes claiming the lot in question at 1247 Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard. According to those filings, two of the townhomes would be reserved as affordable housing for occupants earning between 50 and 80 percent of the Area Median Income, but price ranges haven’t been specified. Cove’s website indicates the townhomes are "designed for workforce buyers and first-time homeowners."Cove, a firm known for AI-powered building design, is also behind a mixed-use proposal in Kirkwood’s commercial village that would replace a former restaurant and parking lot with micro housing, retail, and offices. Property records list the most recent landowner in West End as a Lilburn-based LLC, RPL Management.

Google MapsThe Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard townhomes would join other multifamily plans and active construction projects in nearby blocks. Along the Westside Trail, Lee + White owners Ackerman & Co. are building a 23-townhome project called GW Parkside as a nod to the pocket park next door. The initial phase of 13 units is scheduled to be finished there this spring, developers have told Urbanize Atlanta. That project replaces a car wash and former restaurant building.
