We are languishing in 10th, 8 points behind ‘struggling’ Man United. Defense is leaking goals, attack is largely misfiring and players are losing discipline.

The mentality has also become like that of a mid-table team. Nothing in and around the club screams world class at the moment.

I just don’t find many differences between Chelsea and say, Crystal Palace (apart from the wages and all). As fans, should we also have a mid-table mindset? Satisfied with draws against the big boys and finishing the season with 45-50 points?

People forget we were really unlucky and probably should have won against Liverpool, Arsenal and City. Smashed Spurs. To lose 1 of 5 against the top teams hardly screams mid table to me. It’s very reactive to suggest that after one bad loss.

I agree with your overall sentiment but at some point you’re not just unlucky when you keep dropping points against top sides

Liverpool got a couple of very, very lucky referee decisions (you get used to that because it’s been going on for so many years, it’s boring) with Arsenal we controlled most of the game for and really lost it in the last 5. City, Anthony Taylor so go figure, free penalty. We’ve been unlucky.

Anthony Taylor is still reffing somehow, against all odds.

There’s truth in what ShadowXYZ04 is saying: your squad has talent but they are not yet at the quality or have the requisite mentality to control games for 90 min. In the short term, you will continue to drop points but I wouldn’t be too worried if you are willing to write off this season.
