3·11 days agoWhat if I do have an Nvidia card? I’ve been to and fro on switching for such a long time. I have so much random shit on my PC that it’s making the overhead to leave daunting.
They were still bad days, but more along the lines of “this is the worst year of your life so far”

51·17 days agoWhatever “process” anyone had to keep Trump in check has been dismantled consistently over his two terms. The checks and balances don’t work, no one is held accountable.
From my perspective in different western country, I’m shocked you still believe there are things he COULDNT change, ignore, replace, or destroy in any part of the government.

5·19 days agoIt’s been decades of US-centric media, political commentary, and general cultural dominance/presence in our lives in most English speaking countries whether we liked it or not.
I kind of read this as the elastic band snapping back, we’ve had to hear so much about the US for long, this is almost cathartic. And it’s not people on the fediverse who are responsible, unfortunately you’re probably the most empathetic group in a social media platform at all. You just happen to be here. With a lot of cynical, anti establishment nerds who have a space to vent.
I did the same thing with Solo Leveling. Can’t wait for the adaptations, animation is crazy good.
It’s very hard to live in the system without somehow taking part. I work in marketing adjacent industries. My job is fully bullshit. But I love my team, I love problem solving, and I love working with research data. So I’m definitely part of the problem, but where I live there’s not much else my skills work for. And as the sole income earner, renting, I’m insecure enough financially that I don’t really have a choice. Almost like the system was designed that way…

Australia and Canada are most uninhabited because there’s a lot of uninhabitable land. I do agree that a lot of land use isn’t efficient, but there is also generally a reason people don’t live in central Australia.
Amen. On my phone for now, juggling storage space for flac files.
I’m hanging on for Fiio/ Snowsky to release the next version of the Echo Mini, which I’m crossing my fingers for metal body and removable battery.
I don’t use streaming, but I have high hopes for Snowsky. The Echo Mini is very close to what I want, and the slated release for the Echo (normal?) is soon.
I’m very grateful to 2010 me who decided to rip my family’s CD albums into a hard drive, which has stayed with me through multiple countries, pcs, and listening devices. Built on with Bandcamp and Soulseek.
x-vertism is a behavioural archetype that changes with mental state. Nothing is absolute. Lots of social and structural factors impact people’s mental state from outside their control.
I can appreciate that what you’re saying is good willed, but it feels like the equivalent of telling a depressed person to try “not being sad.”
Very real concern, at least in older and heavier cars. Hot brakes don’t work well, engine braking is harmless and makes it much easier to control pace.
The best way I can describe is going down a big hill with just brakes feels like you’re on a slippery steel slide, trying to use your hands to stop. Engine braking feels like you’re on an escalator, where if you just stay where you are, you’ll get to the bottom at a consistent speed.
