If I need to stand in this situation, I don’t open the bin, and I don’t skip the line. Just stand; everyone else in your row can relax their elbows a bit.
However, there are people who need to make connections, and not everyone gives themselves a lot of time to cross the airport, hit the head, and grab some food on the way. There are definitely asshole travelers, but I try to give my fellow sufferers a benefit of a doubt.
