Left out of the article is one crucial difference. Moulton ran as an anti-trans democrat. Moulton blamed trans people for the 2024 election and was a leader of the anti-trans democrats trying to move the party right on the issue.

Thankfully voters are wising up to the failures of this type of politician. A politician willing to throw any minority group under the bus will be willing to throw your minority group under the bus whenever it becomes politically convenient. Whatever your issues are that you care the most about, you cannot trust a democrat to follow their promises on that issue if they have a record of turning against trans people, immigrants, or Palestinians. Those who’ve willingly sacrificed one group of people for political expediency will surely do so again when the moment suits them. If your minority group or the issues you care about suddenly become unpopular, this type of democrat will quickly abandon you just as they did trans people, immigrants, or Palestinians.

We want politicians who actually believe in things. Someone like Sanders was up there fighting for social democracy for decades, consistently staying true to his principles regardless of the political climate. We don’t need politicians who believe nothing, only seek power for power’s sake, and make every decision by first consulting polls and focus groups.

I’m glad Moulton lost badly. I wish there was a younger candidate to choose from who isn’t a shitgoblin, though. Markey is pretty good ideologically, but he is so fucking old.

I’m more irritated that my congressman (Lynch) held on to his seat, because he voted repeatedly to fund ICEatzgruppen, and his primary challenger was (from what I could find) meaningfully more progressive.
