Trump using rare power to revoke expenditure with bipartisan approval to aid immigrant services

Donald Trump is canceling nearly $1bn in spending approved by Congress, the White House announced on Friday, using a rare and contested power to axe funding for immigrant services and diversity-focused initiatives.

Trump’s office of management and budget described the funding cut as focused on “the most harmful government spending”.

Most of the cuts are focused on services for immigrants, including non-profits that serve refugees and unaccompanied minors accused of being in the country illegally. The administration says the funds are no longer necessary because illegal border crossings have diminished considerably.

Make damn sure those evangelical Christian supporters see exactly what their God’s opinion of Trump was…

Good thing they have the second amendment to deal with this exact situation, amirite? I mean what’s what they’ve been selling it to the population for the last 200 years. Surprise, surprise, when push comes to shove the majority of yanks are cowardly.

It’s not fucking “rare and contested.” It’s just blatantly violating the Constitution. Congress has control of the budget, not the president. It’s his job to execute on the law, not to pick and choose which laws to follow.

The president does a lot of things that he isn’t allowed until the courts tell him to fuck off. Just wastes valuable judge time having to babysit his every move because he doesn’t know what he is doing.

You are wrong though. He or his handlers know exactly what they’re doing. This has been his strategy his entire life. Break the law, then tie up the ensuing suits in the courts so long that he still effectively gets away with it and/or it costs how opposition too much to continue.

He is proof positive that delayed justice is not justice at all.

Well, yeah, murder or sexual abuse against minors is illegal, yet you see the rich and powerful engage in these things constantly without consequence.

The law is words on paper, enforcement is what makes law reality, otherwise it’s just a suggestion.

If you deny someone their life-saving medication you might go to jail for it. If a rich person does denies life-saving medication to someone because it makes them a few dollars more, they get praised for it.

I mean, if the authorities don’t arrest/charge then functionally yes. This demented old pedo has legit killed hundreds of thousands through inaction during Covid and killed millions globally by letting that dipshit Musk gut USAID. He’s a murderer on par with any other fascist but will he see consequences?

This is the kind of editorial complicity that I truly hope historians will be incredibly harsh on.

Like if you’re the editor of the guardian (or wapo, or idk a billion other publications), I hope the whole world knows your name as a complicit spineless bitch that was instrumental in perpetuating this bullshit were all living through.

The media is owned by… the owner class. Of course they’re complicit. They’re a weapon. It’s like saying the gun was complicit in the murderer’s killings.

There is still free good press Online. Zateo etc

We need to spread the word and get everyone listening to free news network exactly what Republicans did with morning radio decades ago.

The editor is not “the media,”

A person okayed this for a paycheck.

Someone’s kid says “My (mom/dad) is the editor of the guardian’s current events section.” When asked what their parents does for work.

The biggest criticisms from the left about the guardian and their leadership seems to be their allegiance to liberalism as opposed to progressivism, so a defense and support of capital and the capital class at the expense of actual progress no matter the subject. This instance would also fit into that category if you perceive the Scott Trust group as owned by the ideals of the capital class.
