Holy shit can you imagine being there and having any knowledge whatsoever of the Yellowstone caldera? There would be a very real moment of fear that my life was about to just abruptly end.
Traumatic.
Go get these people some beers.
At least it would be a quick death instead of the agonizing death that the rest of the world will suffer
The Yellowstone Caldera is big, but it’s not that big. Even the US East of the Mississippi would mostly be okay (dealing with an inch or two of ash), let alone the rest of the world. There’d be a volcanic winter worse than 1815, sure, but between modern farming and logistics and the fact that it would maybe even help a little bit by temporarily mitigating global warming, I wouldn’t expect an “agonizing death [of] the rest of the world” level of famine.
*think of the economy
You mean the world exists outside the USA?!
That’s just commie propaganda. Don’t pay any attention to it.
Pretty sure there was more than one hydrothermal guyser explosion today, judging by how fast some of those folks ran.
/pyroclastic flow jokes!
… in their pants!
Anyone have a link to a video that’s not copyright struck?
I saw video of the explosion earlier. And all of those idiots standing there with their phones because they decided they were out of harm’s way.
What if that was a smaller explosion before a bigger explosion? Stupid fucking people…
Stupid fucking people…
In my experience this is a good general description of many people visiting Yellowstone.
“Honey, watch me go punch this buffalo.”
“How hot do you think this water is? I’ll stick my hand in to check.”
