Earlier this month, the California Department of Food and Agriculture quarantined 69 square miles of metro L.A. after invasive and destructive Mediterranean fruit flies were found at a home in the Leimert Park neighborhood.

Now, officials are planning to use small planes to drop millions of the insects in an effort to eradicate them, SFGATE reports.

Now officials plan to release sterile male fruit flies in the area, to reduce the population of the invaders.

Important point you missed in your comment.

Don’t let movies do your thinking for you. This is an effective eradication method that has been used successfully for many years.

Lmao just saw ppl downvoting me. I was providing MORE context than the title because I was curious. What I pasted wasn’t “scary” to me and of course they aren’t going to just going to release a fuckton of fertile bugs to “eradicate” another bug.

        Yall are daft.
