Wow, this cartoon is one of the most accurate reflections of the time. Like I could see people looking at this cartoon in 20 years and thinking “Oh, that was the Trump era.”

If the usual system is not working for the common people anymore, they look to the politicians. A lot of the more centric ones say nice things but at the end of the day try to maintain the status quo. Then people go look for the ones that want to overturn the system and arrive at the authoritarian figures.
Of course the guy takes it too far and is kicked out in turn.
Even the ancient Greeks figured these kind of cycles happen.
When my family first immigrated to the US, my mom warned me to shut up and stop criticizing the government (like both the government back home and here). I thought but First Amendment? Free Speech?
So here we are a decade later. The Atmosphere feels like PRC again.

I know, I just felt like utilizing my First Amendment right before I lose it. I agree with you completely, and it’s scary the direction the US is going right now.
My first thought when I saw the clip of Trump getting booed at the US open was “enjoy it while you’re still allowed Americans” im expecting executive orders will be coming to make it illegal to boo Trump and kick down the doors of anyone with a podcast or YouTube channel that’s critical of his regime.
I wonder how long until americans will be forced to hang a portait of him in their homes?

Meanwhile, in real life, this actually happens to people who criticize the “liberal” regimes in the UK, Australia, and EU countries. Meanwhile people in the United States actually do not get arrested for criticizing the government.
