I’m not American, but to me, out of all the late night talk show hosts I’ve ever seen - European or American - Jon is definitely the funniest and most entertaining. Also, the quality of the material is top notch. This is very good news.

    Excellent.

I don’t know the exit terms of Colbert’s contract but I hope he sneaks in under Jon’s desk a few times next year.

Anybody watching this on Lemmy? I watch John Oliver every week. I just don’t feel like watching the daily show anymore.

I started watching TDS again 1x/week when Jon started hosting again. Otherwise the only “late night” program I watch is Last Week Tonight.

I watch The Daily Show, Colbert & Seth Meyers most nights (and John Oliver). Usually the monologues and major bits (Meanwhile, Closer Look, etc), and then the interview if it looks interesting (or always if it’s Jon).

The days when Jon and Desi host are great. I don’t care to watch the other hosts.

Desi is the perfect foil for the cross wearing, blonde, Fox News air heads. Prettier, classier, real punch to her words without being over the top. Love the contrast, but alas, no Fox viewers likely see her.

Love Oliver’s words, but the man himself annoys me. 🤷🏻 I’m sure many feel the same with Jon.

Nah Oliver’s exasperated, shouted delivery is really hard to watch. Bit like Lewis Black, fun until it’s not.

Honestly this is the way many things should be. He should have went to like 4 days a week years ago and then 3 and then 2 etc. Honestly it would be great for working in general to be like this. People start retiring at 50 and work like 2 hours less per week per year and bring on people and hand off the job. That sorta used to happen but I don’t know anyone now who learned their job from the last guy that had it in a good way.

imo, he should really just drop the satire/comedy angle entirely, and just run a legit straight-news channel on comedy central.

its always been the only mainstream source of spin-free news in america, might as well make it official

They are scared now! Dont mess with the comedians because it could tank your precious stock prices.
