i ain’t a professional psych person of any stripe, and personally don’t put much stock in the concept of laziness, but if his “laziness” is hurting his relationships, and costing him jobs, well, that definitely sounds like something a psych would want to address.
to me it seems far more rude to label him as lazy, cause despite how you might view it, to the rest of society being lazy is fundamentally a moral failure. it’s a way of saying that someone is just bad for not working hard enough, and ignores the many many justifications and reasons for peoples behaviour.

I guess it might be a cultural difference to not believe in laziness, cos I’ve never heard of that 🤷♂️
To me and mine, he’s work-shy and lazy, not a moral failure or anything but it’s just how some people can be.
I think it’s pretty insulting, presumptive, and rude to call him mentally ill because of that to be honest.

I don’t think he’s bad for not working hard enough. I don’t think he’s mentally ill though.
I think if you called any person “lazy” vs “mentally ill”, you’d probably see a difference in reaction.
But, it seems like this might be a cultural thing, and since we’re not gonna solve that… Well 🤷♂️😂
