Since it’s the holiday season in the US and there’s sports on the holidays, I have an idea for PL on Boxing Day. Have four of the best matchups on Boxing Day back to back. Similar to NBA on Christmas. Ex: NLD, City vs Pool. Since some people are talking about the Americanization of football, why not do this?

Best to prioritise those going to matches and have convenient afternoon fixtures -especially if travel options are limited.

I can foresee divorce rates going up if this idea was introduced.

There’s quite a few other things that could be improved about the game but this is something I always see people coming back to online. It’s probably one of the few things that doesn’t need fixing.

I can see why my opinion is unpopular.I was thinking more so of an American fan that watches the games on TV. I’m guessing it’s different in England.

Already got to go to a 12:30 match on Boxing Day because of the fucking TV companies.

You can fuck right off with your suggestion of even more disruption on a day with limited public transport for the sake of people who just want to sit on their arses in front of the box

The police wouldn’t allow it. The Boxing Day fixtures are generally rubbish, as the police are stretched that day. They never have derby or rivalry matches on this day.

I dont know how you guys do Christmas over there in the US, and I’ve always found it weird you have sports on Christmas day, so I’m going to assume its a bit less of a big deal, maybe Thanksgiving pulls a bit of the attention away? But here its just really stressful, and nobody likes Boxing day matches as is, not because the matches are “bad” but because it sucks to get to and from, they already have 4 time slots that day, but they’ll never put big matches on because its impractical. I’ve no hard numbers but I imagine that Boxing day has the lowest attendances of the year for its games, because people are busy, many tired from christmas, or from travelling to someone else for christmas, and that includes the police, who are busy as Boxing day is a busy time for them as is, and bigger matches need more police, so it will never happen. Just be happy you can watch all the games most weeks (Boxing day ‘weekend’ of fixtures are actually available in full here for a change, but its not normal)

I enjoy watching Thanksgiving and Christmas NFL on TV, but I feel bad for the players and workers who are away from family. I would much rather be home with family than attend a game in person on a holiday.

Thanksgiving and Christmas is a relaxed holiday in the US. Everyone eats food and watch sports. I didn’t realize how stressful Boxing Day is.

Why do Americans think their way of doing things is superior? This is an awful idea. Please keep American ideas out of the Premier League
