“Ederson, Nathan Ake, Sergio Gomez, Rodri, and Erling Haaland were all back in ManCity training today after respective injury/fitness issues.”
Did anyone not see this coming? Seems it’s a regular occurrence where City players will say they are “injured” to miraculously recover in a week after getting to fly back early.
Have better managers then. The international breaks are absolute crap as it is. They need stopped. Period.
Tbh i dont see the problem 90% of the teams are locked in for the euros so whats the point in playing if the game dosent change anything there are way to many games in a season anyway
“My back hurts” will always be old reliable
The Giggs special
Another reason internationals are wank. Just sack the qualifiers off and have a huge death match tournament until the groups
On the flip side, Liverpool players on international duty have been flourishing, scoring lots of goals. City players might be fresher, but Liverpool players will arguably be sharper.
Becoming a pattern that you can’t get more than a few sentences into a conversation about City before one of the people exposes that they don’t know what they’re talking about.
Ederson - was clearly injured against Chelsea, and why send him across the world to recover when he’s not going to play for Brazil anyway? Ake and Gomez - injured long before the international break so not relevant at all Haaland - played in the first game and clearly did something to his ankle, only missed the second because it was meaningless and you’d be crazy to risk a player with a knock in a dead rubber (this is true of all teams and managers and always has been) Rodri - played pretty much the full game against Georgia, coming off with less than 10 mins to go. His injury concern happened after that game and the post is only to reassure City fans that he’s OK.
The way this sub creatively finds another thing to complain about City is remarkable
To be fair its not just city’s players, their all at it!!
All managers do it because of how shit international breaks are. Though it is funny seeing pep forcing allison to play absolute masterclass tbf
Pep and Fergie had a chat
Rodri played the last Spain game so not sure he should be included here
It’s not just City mate, many clubs do this, I suspect we did it with Colwill.
Until they fix this ridiculous international break every month for 2 weeks nonsense it’s gonna keep happening.
Just play the internationals in a block in October and that be it.
The Fa have cracked down and actually do assess all players after Raahford’s actions in March, .
And when 15 million match the CL final maybe internationals will be cut.
We definitely did it with Mitoma as well
Nah I think Mitomas still out
Gusto was a mad one too, said there was a small MCL tear in his knee and he was back training a couple of days later
I’d watch a tournament style qualification month, especially if it means fewer international breaks.
This would honestly work much better, plus the quality of international football could actually increase in such setup. The team gets more time to gel, more trainings together and a better preparations opportunity.
The idea makes perfect sense.
Doesn’t allow for National managers to test out new players and for players to break into the national team from club form though. National managers require regular contact with their squads so they can shape them as major competitions come up. How regular that should be is up for debate though
the idea makes perfect sense
Well you see that’s why it won’t ever happen
They are actually doing something similar in a few years. From 2027 the first few international breaks in a season will be in one four-week block
Two weeks. Not four,
None of Liverpool’s players did it.
You Liverpool fans never have a day off this do you.
Just play them at the end of the season in like a month block and push all the games up to finish sooner
You’d disadvantage smaller nations if their star player was injured for the block, and also not all the European leagues have the same August/September to May/June running window so again the smaller countries get screwed.
Smaller? Even Spain Italy germany struggle with injuries in certain positions. Only France and England can just call up replacements of similar quality across the board.
The real problem is UEFA/FIFA pushing for teams to start star players in meanigless games.
There is also different take, why call player like Rodri when he may be injured and when you have a lot of players waiting to get a chance to play for national team.
Same goes for Haaland. Why play semi-injured striker in a useless game when you can give a chance to someone else?
If anything it’s always better to “fake” injury than to start injured player who won’t be able to help in the end.
A lot of whinging for a Friday
