Seen both Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher criticising Alisson for being clearly fouled during the game saying he needs to do better, both amongst others said the same about Gabriel when Joelinton pushed him into the goal with both hands. What is with the victim blaming from pundits, can’t exactly do much when someone fouls you

Tbf we have no real reason listening to them, except them being attached to Sky which provides coverage for us. I haven’t watched them in a year now and I genuinely feel less stupid, at least when it comes to understanding football!

Yes, they were proper players, but being a player doesn’t mean you’re a brilliant analyst of the game, you may be one but there is no real corelation. Neville tried to be a coach, failed so bad at it. They still cry about keepers playing it short or inviting press, whilst almost every top coach and modern day champion uses it and wins big doing so. They cry at every new signing and tactic that Fergie or Benitez didn’t utilize 20 years ago. They’re just like 'member berries from South Park, no original idea, only stupid narrative and tribalism. There are some really top level game re-watch channels ran by young lads that do what I have never seen these pundits do. Observe, break down objectively and make sense instead of talking bs about “tis all about mentality” or “no leaders” whenever a team loses.

You’re absolutely right, I’ve been watching tifoIRL on YouTube and I wonder why pundits never break down matches anywhere near that level of quality? They spent years playing the game at the highest level, surely this is like bread and butter levels of basic to them?

Because the average fan doesn’t want a deep understanding of tactics. HEATED arguments and controversial takes are what gets views.

I have a hunch things are going to change for the better and these ex player clowns can’t stop it. I’m looking at my own club’s up and coming fan channels and podcasts that are becoming instant hits, and they’re far from what boring tribalist bs we are used to. Sky and other broadcasters will have to catch up or keep losing fans to fan-made media. There’ll also be a big competition for broadcasting services itself and that’ll be another way to either force existing channels to change in order to stay on top or newer services to innovate in order to steal a chunk of theirs.

Football has changed a lot, it’s hardly easily digestible as it was when I started watching it late 80s with players on a grand a week coming up drunk to have a kick about. There’ll be no country for old clowns.

I thought Alisson was unusually poor today, wasn’t much in the fouls given against him, and was at fault for City’s goal.

Yes he slipped when trying to launch a quick counter. Cant blame him for slipping. That goal is just poor defending from Liverpool, 5 players watched Aké go through them. Not a single tackle or arm tug. Just plain ball watching.

Because none of those players (Szobo, Macca, Trent, Jones) think like a #6, so they dont sense danger the way a #6 does. To me, Klopp playing without an old school #6 exposes the team such goals.

Sports TV shows are not about making cold and calculated analysis but to get viewers emotionally invested. That’s why you have these guys playing characters. Why do you think Micah and Keane are there? Same with Cara and Neviller. They have to start debates to get things going.

You should happy that they have not yet reached the american shows level. I’m talking about First Take and Undisputed. You have no Steven A and Skip Bayless in football to take absurd about some players they don’t like.

Goalies are an easy scapegoat to use so they’re treated unfairly pretty often. The vast majority of viewers, coaches, players, and pundits do not understand the nuances nor pressures of being a goalkeeper.

It’s always been crap. Watched a game when ex managers like Wenger and Mourihno and it was worlds apart from the drivel I hear from these ex players.

Wasn’t a foul for me. Allison is notoriously poor with his feet and showed again today twice. If he can’t pick that out of the air with a small bit of pressure then he’s really lost it. If he played for Burnley everyone would say he was awful but alas he doesn’t.

Also the joelinton “push” was Gabriel bending down to flick the ball behind him with his head. Go watch again with this in mind and you will see he wasn’t pushed.

Keepers get far too much protection, goal should have stood.

It’s crazy to see how bad your pundits while in France I really think we have top class commentary with people who really know and understand the game without any click bait attitude!

Ah Gary Neville, the genius mind who invented the concept of a holiday, although his original trademarked term was “mini retirement”

In the Arsenalverse, punditry moved from:

Who is this David Raya guy?

    to:

Wait a minute, why did they go get David Raya when they already have Ramsdale?

    to:

Which one of these dudes is going to be the #1?

    to:

OMFG, Raya is terrible and Ramsdale is literally Oliver Kahn, why is he playing?

    and now, finally, to:

I wish they would just make a choice so people could shut up about Raya and Ramsdale.

Now. Here’s what actually happened: Arteta and Edu saw the opportunity to get a keeper they thought was better than the one they had. They got him, and immediately began starting him. He has continued starting. Arsenal has the best defense in the league, some of which is down to Raya. At no point has the actual behavior of the Arsenal coaching staff or front office ever really shown anything other than that Raya is the top guy, and will continue to be, other than Arteta doing a little faffing about in press conferences so as not to hurt Ramsdale’s feelings.

Oh, and if you watched the Brentford match? Aaron Ramsdale ain’t no Oliver Kahn.
