We literally have more correct decisions now than before VAR. it’s not perfect but do you want 90% correct decisions with VAR or 70% correct decisions without it? The answer should be obvious.
(I made up the percentages but you get the point)

Anyone who thinks VAR will be axed are kidding themselves.
Sure it isn’t perfect and it makes mistakes but the bottom line is that with VAR we get more correct decisions than we get without it. It’s not 100% correct decisions but it’s more than when it isn’t there so there is zero chance it goes away.
What people like Gary O’Neil need to do is come up with ways to help improve VAR and work with the referees instead of claiming it should be binned off as that’s just unhelpful.
One of his coaches came out recently and said Ten Hag doesn’t like criticism. I imagine it’s his way or the highway. Apparently Varane complained to him about Evans starting the derby over him and ETH seems to have held it against him.
He won’t be a successful top level manager if he insists everyone does what he says all the time and no one is allowed to criticise. That doesn’t work in modern football.
It’s great. People want transparency and they get it and people still complain. They admit when decisions should have been different (like the red cards in the Newcastle Arsenal game) and they go through the whole process the follow and explain the controversial ones.
It’s a really good step forward.
You literally can’t remove subjectivity from sport. It’s not the rules it’s the nature of the game.
I’m a United fan and I think you should quit.
You’re not a real United fan if you are considering supporting someone else through a rough patch. We don’t want you.
Quit.
If my only two options to turn around a 1-0 deficit are defenders something is seriously wrong.
Emery’s record at Arsenal is a lot better than people make out.
The two years before he was appointed they finished 5th then 6th. In Emerys only full season he came 5th and got to the Europa league final. It’s well documented he wanted Zaha but the club decided to blow £80m of his budget on Pepe.
Arteta came in and finished 8th and scored less league goals than any Arsenal team in over 10yrs.
Arteta got given time which on paper Emery probably deserved more.
The game that springs to mind is Newcastle 4-4 Arsenal.
There’s been articles on this in recent years. It seems black referees in particular move up the refereeing ranks and then once it starts getting to serious professional levels the FA or a referees body (I’m not sure which) just doesn’t put them through to the next level so they can’t move up the leagues anymore which surely has to be questioned by the football governing bodies.
There was a black premier league referee many years ago called Uriah Rennie and he was very good. It’s a shame he’s been the only one.
Why should the prem rearrange every single fixture for TV though? What’s in it for them? They have a good split right now between TV games and non-TV games. Also 3pm on a Saturday is the classic standard football time. The idea that you lose that once you get promoted to the top tier is bizarre.
