They aren’t being stripped of anything. They may get a token fine and a promise that they will be observed carefully. They might take a points deduction that will push them to 3rd place (at worst).
Everton got slapped because, sadly outside the UK, nobody really cares about them.
City are part and parcel of the Premier League’s international brand. Punishing City would call into question the integrity of the Premier League brand the world over.
Only to the point of keeping coefficients up so we can still play in Europe after a bad season.
I think Chelsea because despite their current situation they seem like they are going in the right direction.
Poch is a decent manager and there is a ton of potential in the squad that he is totally capable of exploiting. As long as his leadership don’t make unreasonable demands of immediate or very near term success, they could do well.
They still need to make some signings like a proper striker, a better goal keeper, and also a replacement for Silva who is not likely to be playing for too many more years.
United in comparison are a mess. They also have a decent manager but their squad needs to be torn down and rebuilt for Ten Hag to be successful with them. Ten Hag doesn’t have the hearts and minds of his leadership to make that happen any time soon.
You can make an argument that says Kompany is the best manager in the league, Jamie.
In seriousness though, he’s proven that he is a great manager more than once, and he is a manager that can make a mid-table that can punch well above its weight, but has so far has not demonstrated the ability to manage egos and expectations at a “big” club.
He is 100% right.
There’s no good reason why they should always have the first kick-off after the interlull.
This said, I’d rather them than us.
I think his reaction would have been very different if they had lost due a decision like that.
