This is exactly why Man city win the title every year, their rejects become stars in other clubs

Pep was extremely generous with Palmer’s minutes, Palmer just wasn’t good enough in those minutes.

There was that famous interview after he scored in the Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup when he said ‘Prem soon come’ (rough translation: “my first goal in the Premier League will come soon”).

And that was two years ago. We kept waiting for him to step up in the league and he wasn’t showing the required level. Even now he’s never scored a league goal from open play, so I think it’s far too soon to suggest he’ll make us regret letting him go.

Look at why Barcelona (not saying City is close to prime Barca) had trouble producing players from their academy after their golden generation. You need to have the space and opportunity for young player to learn and grow, and when you have such a settled and elite squad as City, players like Palmer won’t get that opportunity.

He looks like a good player, but all of his goals have been penalties. No way would he get in City’s team. Still great business by them

He’s getting a lot of play time at the moment but I wonder what happens when Nkunku is back fit and firing.

I know Sterling has been up and down as well but he at least brings a decent bit of pace to an otherwise slower side. I guess both his and Palmer’s jobs could be up for grabs if Nkunku starts hot.

Surely Nkunku will be taking Jackson’s place. Sterling and Palmer have been Chelsea’s best players so far this season whereas Jackson has been torrid in front of goal (dont be talking about that hat trick - had to be up there with one of the worst performances for a premier league hat trick ever!).

I’ve always assumed that Nkunku wasn’t necessarily a natural striker, I thought he’d be playing in behind the main striker like he had at Leipzig with Werner or Andre Silva.

When they bought Palmer, I thought he was cover for Nkunku rather than Jackson being the cover for him.

I know he has played as a main striker in the past but I’ve always viewed him more as a Firmino type who benefits from play off of him more than being the out and out leading man.

Tbh I don’t know much about Nkunku other than he’s highly rated - but then again so was Mudryk!

I’m only really basing my opinion on what I’ve seen of Jackson and he’s not played very well imo.

I agree Nkunku isn’t a natural striker, but is Jackson a natural striker? He seems to be more comfortable in our midfield holding up play and using his tight control rather than being a dominating presence in the box scoring goals. We just don’t have natural strikers, and Nkunku is probably the best player that can pretend to be a striker

Slower side? Aye? The youngest team in the PL with players like Mudryk, Noni, Reece, Gallagher, Caicedo etc make up for a slow side? CBs like Colwill, Badiashile and Chalobah also aren’t exactly slow.

OMG he made a PK from 12 yards and he is the second coming of Christ. Chelsea had a food game but they are still crap

Take away the pens and he’s still been fantastic, most through balls completed and top few chances created in the PL since joining in pretty sure? Yeah he’s been hyped a lot but judging his pens ain’t all of it

The overall calmness and range of play he brings has been vital but yes I’d rather keep it quiet

We did believe in him though. Title is bullshit. We’re just stacked and can’t give him the gametime he wanted.
