I really find this take to be completely low minded. Comedy is more than making a statement and receiving laughs for it. You might say comedy is on a spectrum and offensive humour is ,I’d argue, near the bottom of it. The absolute best comedians are the ones who can take a complex and sensitive topic and have you laughing about it. The worst type of comedian is one who goes full kramer and then gets mad that no one finds it funny. However, fundamentally the quality of a joke is determined by the audience and never by the jester. Joke about anything you want but if no one’s laughing you’re probs just a cunt hiding behind a thin veneer of ‘humour’.

You missed the point completely. Shit posters DON’T CARE if you find it funny. But they are amazed at those with such empty lives that they would impose their “virtue” on a meaningless shit post. I hope my life never becomes so empty that I am in a constant state of rage as I condemn all that don’t 100% agree with all my view points

your life is at such a low point where people being annoyed at shit posts bothers you though. such that you feel the need to defend and define what ‘real shitposting’ is and should be about.

is it really about them? or is about you feeding the trolls.

Aight chill babe, firstly making the shitpost is as brain dead as the replies to it, we are both wasting time in a very niche corner of the internet. Secondly, I didn’t see this was the shit post community 😅 that’s on me. You do seem a bit prickly for someone ‘making a joke’ though, maybe cos you’re a shitty jester. Now dance little meme monkey, dance and make me more memes to ridicule!

The point was that “some people’s” definition of racism vs just funny is IMPOSED on everyone else. I only wish I had the moral clarity of knowing without a doubt that everything that I believed in was correct and that my mission was to correct any who dissented

People can make racist jokes. But the punchline has to be more than just “haha racism”. If only racists are laughing at your joke, it’s not a funny joke, you’re just being racist.

This comment is probably seen as racist too. Lol.

Well I mean… A colorblind student at our university once pointed out that red green blindness causes you to see red laser pointers worse than green ones, and he had trouble seeing where it is being pointed at. Our prof got a green one the next day and has been using it ever since.

There are also several color schemes that are disability friendly so that charts (diagrams and stuff) can be better read by colorblind people.

So, the analogy doesn’t really work. Colorblind people get to dictate color schemes because that is how inclusion and a low barrier society works. Or am I missing the joke here?

The joke is indeed that the color wheel would only contain one color, which serves no purpose.

Are you aware of your autism, or is it an advanced trolling?

        1. That’s not how colorblindness works.

        2. The user you are replying to is saying that using color blind people as an example is a bad comparison.

          1. It’s a joke that plays with the word “blindness”. Are you also “colorblind”?

          2. Yes, hence the autism. They are taking a joke literally. My stepson is exactly the same, he cant understand analogies.

      Racist jokes are often hillarious.

You don’t make racist jokes because they’re not funny. You don’t make racist jokes because they’re racist and dehumanizing.

A joke doesn’t don’t stop being funny because it’s racist, but it does become dehumanizing and reflects very poorly on whoever is telling the joke. It also signifies a lack of wit because racist jokes are often very, very easy most of the time.

It’s not that someone telling a racist joke isn’t funny. It’s that they’re also a piece of shit.

Exactly, you still be a racist, homophonic, xenophobic, whatever phobic idiot and still be funny. That doesn’t mean your beliefs or perspective is legitimate or agreeable, it just makes you funny.

One of my wife’s old aunts was one of the funniest ladies I knew … wild sense of humor and she could make anyone laugh. But she was a complete conservative and racist.

She had the Irish kind of humor where she could literally make insults at you and about you or someone else and still make you laugh.

So if John Cleese didn’t laugh at Bernard Manning’s racist jokes it’s because he doesn’t have a sense of humour and he should get over it? Who gets to decide who has a sense of humour, John?

His point was that NO One should be imposing their beliefs of what is funny vs what isn’t on others. How about Cleese came out as the final word on funny vs not funny and then spent his time calling out anyone who disagreed

Ironic how many came to Lemmy screaming that reddit was an echo chamber. All of reddit did not CONFORM to their viewpoints. “How dare they”. So they came to Lemmy and attempt to turn Lemmy into an echo chamber of ONLY their ideas and view points. Do they not understand the meaning of a shit post? Something meaningless, Hopefully funny. But certainly not something to get upset about because it hurt your poor feelings. If you get upset over a shit post you must lead a really miserable life that you live in constant rage because everyone doesn’t agree with you on everything.

Haha. Seems like alot of people are taking offense. Perhaps mr. Cleese is poking a sore spot here.

The people who upvoted and moved on, probably have a sense of humour. The ones who stopped to yell “that’s not funny!!!”, probably less so.
