Probably will get stick for this, but after nearly 20 years, I want it fair and square. I want it through sweat and tears and through our sheer hard work, not because of some cheap luck. I’d rather Man City if they are guilty that they get dropped significant points this season than their title revoked from last season’s PL win. That is done and dusted and the FA should own up to it for taking long to do something about it.

Think people are getting ahead of themselves in terms of retroactive punishment, no trusted jurno has said that this will/can happen.

Journalists have said that the punishment is basically unlimited and that revoking titles can happen (amongst any possible punishment) but you’re right that no one knows what will actually happen if anything.

Strange that you’ve literally answered his question and YOU’RE the one being downvoted? Strange world we live in.

I also remember reading an article from TheAthletic and have posted it too.

Well maybe, but it’s a question that has been asked when reports have explained the whole situation with City’s charges and I was responding to the whole ‘no trusted jurno has said that this can happen’ when in fact a trusted journo has said it can.

Yeah, there’s no way they get stripped of anything. I actually think relegation is also extremely unlikely.

They’ve set a precedent with Everton. If they set a new precedent by relegating City, then any future investigations will be under more scrutiny to relegate a team.

If I was a betting man, I’d say City will get 30pts deducted and a 2 year transfer ban.

      TheAthletic had this to say:

“What punishments could City face if they were found guilty? The potential punishments are outlined in rule W.51 of the Premier League’s handbook, with a range of potential options for the panel to consider if City are found to have broken the rules. Sanctions range from a reprimand and fines to points deductions — and even expulsion from the Premier League. Any points deduction could be applied when the decision is made or retrospectively, raising the prospect of City being stripped of titles.”
